Chev. Camaro is go for Aus., in Holden showrooms next year

The iconic Chevrolet Camaro pony car will fill the V8 void in Holden showrooms next year, almost five years ahead of schedule — and ahead of the next generation flagship Corvette sports car due in 2020.

Holden is preparing to import the Camaro SS and have it converted to right-hand-drive in Melbourne by its longstanding performance-car partner Holden Special Vehicles.

Although the Mustang and Camaro compete head-on for price in the US, the Chevrolet is likely to be at least $20,000 dearer than the Ford.

Camaro pricing is yet to be confirmed but dealers have been given an indicative cost of between $80,000 and $90,000 on the road — about the same as a HSV Clubsport — with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed auto.

Dodge is also said to be considering building the next generation Charger SRT sedan and Challenger coupe in right-hand-drive from the factory

I like the news that the Silverado is coming to Oz too.
I need anew tow vehicle but I am not paying $150K for it.......hopefully the Silverado out of Holden showrooms will be a bit more reasonable on the price tag.

I'd love a new Camaro but couldn't justify the price premium above the stang or above what a factory RHD Challenger is likely to be.

Whilst I won't be buying one, a new Camaro with a RHD conversion for $90K with a factory warranty is cheaper than I thought they'd be.

Cheaper than bringing it in and doing it yourself that's for sure. A real shame it's not factory RHD though.

Don't you worry, they'll be selling them to make money, hence the high price tag. I feel they may not sell as many as they hope though.

Hey Stephen, I wouldn't place much credence on a story written by that tool - Dowling.

Don't get me started on the amount of inaccuracy I've seen in car articles.
