New steering wheel - need help
Hi all,
I am trying to replace my old grants steering wheel ( 6 bolt) to a new grants steering wheel GR838?, which is a 3 bolt. I’ve never done this before so I do need some help. Once I removed the old steering wheel there is an adaptor. Do I need to steering wheel removal tool to take it off? I am guessing I will need the new adaptor that will suite 3 bolt steering wheel. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Pro...ew-list-anchor If yes, does anyone know where to get one for grants steering wheel GR838? Photo of the old 6 bolt adaptor and steering wheel. https://imgur.com/a/ZFSEY https://imgur.com/a/mytaG New steering wheel. https://imgur.com/a/Acolf Thank you. |

Looks like I will need a removal tool .
I can used grant standard kit 3000 or 4000 for this steering wheel. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these? |

Leave the wheel bolted to the adapter and remove both as one, check to see if the 3 bolt wheel will work with the 6 bolt. You might be able to redrill the 3 bolt wheel. There is a myriad of Grant wheel adapters so be sure you get the right spline size and year/model

Most GM wheel hubs have 5/16" UNC threads that are there for the removal tool. Easy to make a tool with an angle grinder & a piece of 1/4" or thicker steel, or thick alum.
I have a Grant wheel & I had to drill new holes to get the wheel where I wanted it. |

This is what you need.Don't need to make any unsafe mods.

Thanks for that, the 6 to 3 bolt adaptor you've mentioned was my first option but i cannot use it as the new steering wheel is a deep dish, so the main nut doesn't have enough thread to go on.
I need one of those 2 kits, very hard to find ... |

Not sure what vehicle you have but you may be able to use a Grant GR3162 adaptor. I got one recently from "engine master" at Albury. You can find them on eBay. Fitting it was a bit painful but it works.

Thanks for that so one problem solved .
There is one more thing I am not sure of. Steering wheel GR838 only came with the chrome horn button, there is no attachment that horn button attaches to (behind) https://www.enginemaster.com.au/gran...-chrome-3~6877 Installation kit 3162 has all the items required to install the steering wheel, but it does not have the attachment for the new horn button Any suggestions? Thank you. |

Without checking properly it looks like you have the same set up as me. The horn button should attach to the fibre disc in GR 3162 kit just by sitting the horn on with a partial turn to engage the 3? tabs.
