65 Impala H/T

well... after looking for some 12 months or so... I finally have my car!

I started looking for a ZD/ZC Fairlane, then spotted the black and grey 65 impala coupe in a street machine, and that was the end of that!

unfortunately I coulndnt afford a coupe, but loved the pillarless look of the 4 door hard top, so the hunt began.

I preferred the front end of the 68 Impala and started searching for a nice one, but I kept on coming back to the 'errect nipple' tail lights of the 65 - so, so nice!

I had a few 65s checked out interstate with no luck and ended up spending more than what I set out (surprise, surprise ) on this one.

It came from a much loved home in Qld and has been looked after and had some money spent on it over the years. It also came with a heap of spares including badges, panels, seals, bumpers, handles etc etc

Needless to say, I am VERY happy with it and have been cruising in it as much as possible, including a 600 mile maiden voyage back to my home town from Adelaide!

Heres some pics for yas (these are the ones from the sellers ebay listing, I will put some of my own up once I get a chance.

A little engine bay detailing and it'll be perfect

Very nice! I might be looking for one of these (or similar) next year. A big block cruiser is appealing to me at the moment. Did you happen to look at this '66 that was on ebay a while ago. If so what was it like. Your location LEP? Where is this?

I like the impala, i have bought 2 on my recent trip, 67 SS 396 BIG BLOCK, owners manual and pretecto plate and a 65 SS SMALL BLOCK, original paint and still has plastic on seats and trims, both matching numbers, bucket seat console cars..

A visit to Regency Park is on the way.

Gday 67cammy - yeah that 66 looked pretty nice from memory. It was similar money to the one I got. I never spoke to the 66 owner so I dunno what it was like though.

I recommend holding out for a good one to come up, as there are plenty of sh*t boxes out there.
There was a big block 65 on ebay the other week I think??

Lower Eyre Peninsula (a little place called Cummins)

The 67 i will sell. The 65 i will hang on to and enjoy it. Lucky they both have factory aircon so it should be cool. I like the white and black roof combo you have.

Nice one chevelle.

mine has no a/c - but it looks WAY better cruising with all the windows down anyhow

yeah the black roof looks mint I think - it was redone in the last 10 yrs and looks brand new too.

The black(ish) and cream interior is also wicked I reckon - luckily my local footy team are the magpies (black and white)

finally got a chance to drop in the new springs I got for the ass end of the old girl. It had a pretty good stance but I was after something a little lower.
It already had King Sring SL front and rear but I found some other lower springs second hand over the net.

we gave it a fair old rock up in the rear and couldn't get anything to touch or rub so I think it will be alright. Just need to get some new shockies that aren't as tall. Was thinking of some pump up jobs.

Whats your thoughts?

I love the 'full load in the back' look. Especially on these long sleds

Yeah when we had it hangin on the hoist with the shocks on the springs are wobbly but don't fall out. The shocks were done at the same time as the springs tho. Yours might b original length items?

Dunno what brand they were. There is nothing stamped on em and the bloke I bought em off didn't know either. They were in his impala when he bought it and they were too low. My gain

I rekon it would look pretty sweet with larger rims. I think ud get a bit too much attention from the boys in blue if u went any lower. The ride is also a bit rougher. U might be better off looking at airbags?
