Good Friday fun

So I get an email from a friend to come over Good Friday and check out his new toy. Get there and he bought himself one of the 11 Chevy Luminas NASCARs from the movie 'Days of Thunder'. He told he bought this thing on his last trip to the US, but apparently it was a mock up with a stock engine and tranny. Get there and lo and behold :

This thing has working fuel cell, dry sump , diff cooler , fire extinguisher system, big brakes. Looked pretty much like the real deal. I dont think the carby was the original one as it looked too new. Plus I dont hink it would have had a choke on it. Was built by Hendrick Motorsports - the same people who still build NASCARs today.

So we put some oil in the container for the dry sump. Couldn't get fuel in through the filler as it has the proper fuel fill plate so we had to fill up thru the vent tube.

Fires up after pouring some fuel down the carb.
Sounds just like a real NASCAR !!!

Unfortunately my phone camera would go into video mode for some unknown reason so I couldn't get video of it.

Now he just needs somewhere to run it.

Looks awsome. If I remember correctly the 51 car was Rowdys and Tom Cruze drove it in the last race. Send it to Hollywood Treasures and get a packet of money for it.

As you say, a little limited as to where you can drive it, but sweet garage addition

Frank, get him to join a CAMS affiliated club throw some mufflers on it and he can take it on club track days on some great race tracks.

Hi Kev.

He is very active in one of the Corvette clubs. Not sure if it's CAMS affiliated. But you're right - it will need mufflers - it's loud !
