1970 Rally Sport Camaro - Pro Touring

After many years of talking about this one, it is underway. Plan is modern protouring style.

LS3 (650hp), Magnum T56, 12 Bolt with 3.7 gears
Tubbed, Detroit Speed Front Subframe & Quadralink.
Wheels (currently ) Forgeline GZ3, 18 x 10 front wearing 275/35 tyres, 18 x 12 back, wearing 325/30 tyres.
Colour, tba (not red).

I have commissioned Ben Hermance to do a design rendering, http://www.hermancedesign.com/, will post once happy with it

I heard from Bonnevile Engineering today that DSE suspension and LS3 engine was all OK to use

The car arrived at bodyworks on Saturday

And in a well timed arrival, the new body panels arrived today (thanks Classic Custom Imports), quarter panels, inner wheelhouse, cowl vent panel, trunk, floor pan patch panels & DSE Mini Tubs. All body panels are AMD, quality looks very good, now for the fit test.

Awesome! Can't wait to see how this turns out. The DSE stuff is very nice. One day when I get old i'm going to build a car with a huge budget.

Looking forward to the build Roger, as I am sure you are.
If your other rides are anything to go by this will be a good one.

Purchased car disassembled. Had been torn down and media blasted. Car had supposedly lived its life in Fresno.
Underneath was very solid
Major rust is in cowl area, there are some other small rust areas, lower tulip panel and pinholes in front floor plans near toe board. Assume had a leaky windscreen
Quarter panels are being replaced due to some previous butchery.

Yes the DSE stuff is, I spent nearly a full day there last year. I was one of their very first customers, when they were working out of a home garage in Michigan. Really nice people to boot.

I know their stuff isn't cheap, but I think it is cost effective. As an example, their front subframe, is around $7,200.

But if I was to build a stock subframe, with coilovers. new sway bar, upgraded steering box, Corvette hubs etc, I reckon I would be in to it for over $4,500 and still wouldn't have weight savings, geometry fixes and ability to fit a 10" rim with 275mm tyre and I'm getting a brand new everything and as a known quantity

Yes, I do, but it is about 180 degrees from how I thought of this build for years.

Matt (the son part of father/son) has sort of come round to it, not sure if it will look aggressive enough, hence why I want to see rendering.

It is also a bit of a "now" colour, but there was a factory colour not that far away, so you could say this is a modern interpretation of.

Hi Chris, been following your build, a few similarities

What suspension are you going with?

IMO the 2nd gens lend greatly to the pro touring look! Way better than the 1st gens. I'm slowly convincing dad to make a few suspension changes....
