Demon. Only rebuilt once in 5 years. Just needs tuning every 3 months. I’m hoping now I have it timed right that once I reject it we will be all good

I had a similar issue with the same carby. If it was tuned for WOT on the dyno, it drive like a pig putting around, but if it was tuned for daily driving, it performed like a pig under WOT. Could never find a happy medium.

Commiserations to all those running the brand H stuff [ & clones ].....

I got a phone call about 2 weeks ago from the owner of a 66 GTO.

About 10 years ago I fitted a Carter TQ to his engine, to replace the leaking POS Holley that was on it. It is still running fine & has not been touched during those 10 yrs...

Here are a couple more pics with the install tidied up. Had to start the learn again as I had the battery off for a while during this. No big deal. This can be avoided in future as you can download your tune to an SD card on the HHC & then also store it on your PC or laptop. I have worked out how to do this now ;D.

I put about another 30 miles on it & still really liking it. The plan is to let it 'finish' its learn then bring that tune into the PC & save it. Then on the PC I will experiment with different maps to try & lean cruise & implement decel fuel shut off & experiment with best hot start parameters.

Apart from the surge tank, with the air cleaner on you wouldn't know its there.

No, just a stall cut off. My now 'lift pump' also has the original unchanged stall protection. In short if the engine keeps running so do the pumps. Inertia switch sounds like a good added level of protection.

I think it is OEM on some factory EFI vehicles in case you get in an accident / collision the fuel flow stops.

Another fuel shut off method is a switch connected to the oil pressure sw.

I think I'd rather the fuel stopped first.
I suppose you could use various safety cut offs in conjunction (?)

So has anyone got any suggestions for a quiet 'lift' pump so I can get rid of this Holley Blue? Doesn't have to support much HP anymore.
