New tax on imported goods

The government have just announced they will be putting a $5 tax on every parcel under $1000 imported into Australia. This is on top of the GST.

Well importing cars will be negatively affected after the US Federal Reserve raised its interest overnight. The Fed has increased its key short-term rate by a modest quarter point from 1.5 to 1.75 percent. This move will also likely push down the Aussie dollar, making holidays and products from overseas more expensive, including petrol.
