65 4dr Impala

Well add me to the impala boyz standing up against the camaro fans on here .

Picked this up about 3 weeks ago 65 Impala aus. where to start i dont know

Cars motor is a 307 which is partly stripped the drive shaft isnt the right length . extractors cut, 3 sets of different wheel the list goes on!

Pictures of how it was , to me starting to strip it and discovering the amount of bog.

Unsure on what to do I want it on the road so might have to bog the grinded areas up for now to get it rego'd then start the paint drama at a later date!

So I havent done a list of whats needed yet as I'm all over the shop at the moment.

Was hoping to pick up a cheap 327 or 350 but not much under $500 so looks like I will rebuild the 307.

---------- Post added at 06:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ----------

hoping down the track turns out with 100 spokes white roof with a pearl or metallic flake that matches the bottom colour whatever that maybe.

cream or some sort of off white interior maybe.

Will see how many times this changes!

Looking good mate.

If you're going with a white exterior, nothing is as porn on a big white Impala, than a light blue interior. Sex on wheels.

When stripping the pain that way, might pay to put the car on plastic (concrete underlay or something to that effect). Much easier to clean the junk up afterwards.

Thanks boyz and Sure is !!!

Spent today pulling down the 307 another few hours and it should be done.

Although got a call with some good news about 1 hours ago hopefully have a 350 popping in its place instead..

Excited about that!!! not after huge amount of power but i'll strip the 350 down and give it a rebuild and put a mild cam in it I guess...

Good to see another 65 !
Camaros are slowly getting outnumbered.
You prob already know but be carefull when grinding your panels you dont grind the metal especially on any lines and corners. Better off getting most of the paint and bog off then switching to 80 grit on an air sander. Panels are prob only 1.2mm thick
you gotta love body work not

Yer not to impressed with how much bog there is and looks like the metal is dinged so its taken a hit.

I dont have the coin for paint/panel properly at the moment so going to patch it up and do a quick fix on the rust places for now and give it a quick lick of paint to get it on road.

Will be close to 3k just to get it on the road by the looks time I get the motor, rebuild it. Need to fix the fuel tank or get a new one and tail shaft is not the correct length plus whatever pops up in time! So no getting new chrome parts ,interior or paint just yet....

Not sure what 350 it is will be picking it up in about 2 weeks so I'll focus on the body for now I guess.

I've used Classic Industries quite a few times.
A reputable company.
You'd cop a fair hit in the wallet for shipping panels though.
They will quote shipping before they proceed

Thanks Nev.

Some shipping is crazy isnt it I did a quote on Ecklers for a key/lock set postage was either $70 or $90 yikes!!!

I guess I'll wait and see what they come up with one of the items is a fuel tank otherwise might just get it from pontiworld I guess.

Well guys picked up the 350 chev well I'm not to sure what it is to be honest.

If someone could helpwould be great! done a bit of a google and search and found the first number but the rest are unknown.

On the rear 3970011
On the front block could be either 0 Q C then E4379

Also on the back it has h284 and h4

Heads 3932441 = which found is 69-70 76 cc ??
Crank 3932442 = 3.48 stroke

Just confused is the last digits the year 79??

Anywayz looks like they will need manchining as I cyclinder is rough and got corrosion or dents in it.

---------- Post added at 05:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:07 PM ----------

On wiki they refer to most 350 as L ** But i cant see any L ** on the block etc

My two mods I've done so far.

Chev tyre vavle and a complete set of the same style rims instead of 3 different types.

White impala. Nice!

Regarding the engine numbers, all I can say is "pics speak a thousand words".
