I haven't updated for a while, basically this is everything that has been happening the last few months since the tubs were finished. The body drop and rear suspension setup is now complete. I don't have pics of everything that Ive done in that time but this should cover most of it.

Boot hinge bracket make to join the original hinges to the new tubs

In the process of fabricating the new rear suspension crossmember from 3mm plate

Finished crossmember. The centre is angled to mimic the sheet metal 9" diff so we can run the car super low without the diff housing hitting the crossmember. The access holes for the coil over bolts and cutouts for 3" exhaust

Underside of the crossmember, the coilovers mount up in the pockets.

Crossmember welded in place. We are now going to change from a panhard bar setup to a watts link so we can run both shockwaves or coilovers in future.

Beginning of a new rear brace to join the tail panel to the raised chassis rails. You cant see in the pic but it has had a section cut out long ways in the middle so it could be curved to match the tail panel

Welded and in place with clecos

Rails extended to meet the brace

New tail panel sitting in place

Floor sides extended to suit the new height of the floor so it could be welded to the inner sills

New front fender brackets had to be made to fit the new floor

New fender Brackets

The beginning of the transmission tunnel

Tunnel opening complete and toe boards joined to the firewall. Subframe pockets also shaved.

First time on its wheels to check everything works with the new floor, tubs, rails and suspension welded in place

Sitting at the lowest height it will still be drive-able at. The sills are now the lowest point on the car. Here they are sitting 20mm off the ground. They have also been boxed with 3mm plate to the pinch for strength.

Engine block sitting in place, set back behind the axle centreline, a couple of inches further back than stock.

A link to little video for proof it can easily roll 20mm off the ground

If this link doesn't work you can find it on the Pro Touring Garage facebook page or mine or Luke's instagram @speaksy or @erinvalebuilt

We realised we are kinda blurring the lines between Pro Street and Pro Touring now. The super low ride height, set back engine and full tubs go back to the pro street style of the early 90's but the suspension, wheels and LS/6speed are that of a modern pro touring car. Luke called it 'Modern Pro Street' so I think we will go with that.

We know there will be a lot of people who don't like Camaro's this low, but we love it at this height!

There is still a lot of fab work to go before it's ready to drive. Ill post again in another few months when it is at the next stage.

Thanks,
Cheyne

Cheers for the update Speaksy and cheers guys for the comments.

We made our deadline of getting it back on it's wheels by the end of the year so very happy with that. Now on to the next stage which will see it look more complete. Still a long way to go. Hoping to have all fab work completed in the next 6 months (did I tell you that speaks).

Cheers

I reckon it is a good idea to have a target date to work to, these things can drag on for ages if you let them.

Bloody good job by the way.
