Photobucket.

Got an email from Photobucket advising " we've noticed you have been using Photobucket for 3rd party hosting"
........and they finally advise "Photobucket has only restricted the ability to view your photos on 3rd party sites."

So the guts of it is if I pay them $400 (and that's an annual fee!!) to upgrade the account I can continue 3rd party hosting.

So now I appears that all the photos I have posted using photophucket cannot be viewed.

I am looking for alternative options......anybody?

From what I read on another site that $400 is us $$ as well isn't it? I don't use any photo hosting sites but Flickr seemed a popular option

Holy sh*t. I noticed the 3rd Party images popping up on forums.

Just checked, and that $400 annual fee is ridiculous.

I've been a paying member for a few years on their $25 annual plan, which I was more than happy to pay, so thankfully I'm good until December 2018. How they can justify pumping that up to $400 is beyond me.

Definitely going to look for an alternative.

I forgot about Flickr. Good site. Forgot I had an account there as well.

I've been using postimage.org for a while, but do wonder how long that will last especially now that 10 million photobucket users are now looking for an alternative.

Steve.
Hi Steve,
The allowable file size is quite small though (isn't it?)

That's the part that p!sses me off.
I like sharing the photos on events, "how to", builds etc. now that "historical" information is practically useless without images.

That's what I am using. Who knows how long any hosting site will be free for though.

Same here, it was getting ridiculous using their site, too many ad walls coming up with ridiculous gossip-rag type articles.

I'm still keeping my account as I expect they'll revert to how it was or go the way of Netscape Navigator.

I setup my own domain a while ago so that I would have complete control over my email. Given that your email is such an important part of you ID these days, I didn't want to be locked into a service provider email address or use something like gmail, which could always go the way of photobucket sometime in the future.

The upshot of this is that since I have some web hosting of my own, I can basically run my own private image hosting service and be in compete control of my own destiny. So here is my first hosted image:
