I hang outside drug stores, trying to stop the people that hang outside drug stores. My home is a hole in the ground covered by a sheet of tarpaulin but it is a home to me, i dine every day under the bridge with mates with no teeth ....its a hard life but i enjoy it

Retail Manager Bluewater TackleWorld Mindarie. Started in the tackle trade in 91. Became an alarm tech/electrician from 2003, but got asked by my old boss to come back and work for him in 2010. I could earn more as a sparky but working in field that your passionate about is somewhat more rewarding.
My boss just lost his 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer before Christmas so I still don't know what the future holds for myself and my staff?
How ever if someone wants to pay me for restoration of musclecars i'll take it.

Until the early 1990's specialising in muscle cars and hot rod work....

Then got offered a job from my brother doing electrical work on Jaguars.
I then bought him out in 1999 purchasing the wrecking and spares outlet, along with a seperate workshop which I sold 5 years ago...Keeping the spares business....http://www.jagspares.biz

I added Landrover dismantling to the business as a side line also around 5 years ago....http://www.discoveryspares.biz

I earn a crust flipping cars. Just buy a car, tart it up with a bit of paint and a body kit etc, and then flip it for a bit of profit before moving onto the next one. I am a qualified first year panel beater and fully qualified vehicle painter by trade.

In between the years I was painting and doing what I do now I joined the NSW coppers and worked Highway Patrol out of Liverpool in South West Sydney during the time that Cabramatta pushed their heroin problems onto us and the Darwiche vs Razzaks drug war was on where they were regularly shooting at each other's houses and themselves. Had a little bit to do with the street gangs Notorious and Brothers 4 Life as well. Was involved in the aftermath of Cronulla riots where on the second night Bankstown resembled a war zone. Driving past Maccas and seeing cars turned on their roof and set on fire. Was also there for the Macquarie Fields riots. Saw a lot of fatal accidents, shooting victims and heaps of other bad stuff as well as some fairly hectic pursuits. Ended up as the traffic supervisor for Parramatta before I took a medical discharge for chronic post traumatic stress disorder, major anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder.

Pretty much don't like being around large groups of people or out in public hence why I built the shed out the back of home and work from it.

A couple of pics below from when I was about four years in and still a single striper constable. You get your second stripe (senior constable at 5 years). I was in for about ten which these days make you a veteran. Their turnover rate is extremely high. Not many people join and stay anymore.

With Bankstowns Lotus.

Me I'm in the mining industry and have been for about twenty five years. My current position is as a technical advisor working FIFO to Mongolia. the job involves training and guiding the locals in the repair and maintenance of the dig fleet on site. have been there for just over six months and loving it, though must admit can't wait for summer as the winters are bitterly cold.

What an awesome and diverse bunch you blokes are.

Im a Fridgy by trade [thats refrigeration mechanic].
Started my apprenticeship in large commercial and industrial aircon in 1981.
Got retrenched early in my 4th year and offered a job in 'Commissioning and Balancing'
Basically, i set up large air conditioning systems after someone else installs them.
Worked on - ran some of the most interesting jobs in Melb over the last 30+ years: Crown Casino, MCG, Fed Sq, Hyatt Hotel, Rialto, Royal Women's, blah blah.
Got used and abused for so many years i cracked it and went out on our own [with a work mate] and set up our own company.
Now we're the largest 'independent' commissioning company in Victoria.

Not much changed for me in the 6 years since last posting (below). except changed companies twice. Work in IT still, but a more specific field. Moved up the ranks (slightly), went from a global toy company, to now a global car company.

Just happy to get paid at the end of the day.

And I still work on a few internet forums to help waste my spare time

Electrician by trade but don't use it. Own a small business the same as the first post. Getting bored putting up with serving people to be honest so am currently selling the business. Someone seriously interested so no bloody idea what's next. Been watching too much pay TV and would love to buy the right kind of cars, restore/mod them to be everyday reliable drivers and then sell them from my rural property in a purpose built shed. Probably a pipe dream in Oz.

I'm a designer and retoucher and work on lots of big pretty pictures. I used to design the V8 Supercars B Double Pantechs for about 7 years, as well as all the corporate branding collateral. I also make images for alot of advertising big brands as well as startup companies. I'm moving more into advertising photography and retouching but still do heaps of retouching for other photographers as well. Right now I'm fixing up a whole bunch of images for Isuzu ute Australia. Last week I spent 7 days on one image for Brisbane Racing Carnival. A good job, but my eyes are getting baaad.

I'm in IT and have been for around 15ish years now.....seen some pretty big changes over that time too! but like some others I am ready to do something totally different....just not sure what! I also do select Photography jobs on the side but try to keep that as a hobby if I can.

Unfortunately the hard part is finding something that pays the same as IT which is the most important thing when u have 2 lil ones and several expensive hobbies

There's a really cool variety of careers in here, and im surprised by the amount people in IT! Finding people into the old cars in the IT industry is pretty rare, infact the only person that I have worked with who was really into their cars was Mr Luxford!

Spent 13 years in advertising but got sick of the politics and sitting on my arse. Did a mature age apprenticeship and now I own a landscaping business and also make adult related furniture, just for something different.
