7 years to do a steering conversion??

Holy crepe, call me in 10 years when you have an impala. Haha, when you finally have that stainless heap finished, flux capacitors will really exist.

I reckon this thread has the chance of surpassing elderlad, 100 pages and finally finds a car!! but at least that bloke knew what he was in for.

Did the convo in about 6 months, then drove it for my wedding in 2007, since then life been getting in the way... but I have no complaints.

Surprisingly a delorean is not like a camero or a mustang. There is limited support for them, parts are difficult to find(if you don't purchase them new for big $$$) and most people who own them are "Checkbook Restorers". I've had figure out pretty much every thing from scratch, with very little help from the delorean "Community".

I'm looking forward to working on something as simple as the impala, which has a huge wealth of knowledge thats easily available. I enjoyed to the beetle(ugly or not) cos it was simple and parts and info were readily available.

In the picture of the dash of this impala there are three instruments. Is this original issue? I don't think it is Anyone able to tell me?

---------- Post added at 04:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:06 PM ----------

they are mounts in the dash directly above the radio

---------- Post added at 04:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:06 PM ----------

Quick google search shows that they are not original.

Another arrow for my bargaining bow...

No they`re not original, but i think the opposite to you, i see them as an improvement rather than a reason for a price reduction by the seller, and after all does he really care whether u want an unmolested dash or not, or a Supernatural clone or not, i think not.

I was going to go up and see them(see earlier posts) but someone got there first. Must have taken awhile to get the add off.

They were gone at least 2 weeks ago.

My point about the dials in the dash is that the guy is trying to say its all original. If you wanted to make it original(or look original) you'd have to take out the dials and fill up the holes.

I'm going to lead with the work to repair the engine, then about the running gear, then about repainting it(bonnet appears sunburnt), then about the modfications for the dash. I'm also going to point out the other hardtop, on justcars that has an asking price of 8K, which has a running motor(I know that its sold and if he rings the guy he'll find out that it sold for 7500)

I've got to get him down a fair way to make it a viable option. Will be interesting to see if he has had many other people come and look.

It`s gonna be really interesting to see how this pans out. I reckon Ivan knows how hard 67 Aussie hardtops are to find, and I also think he really wants around the $15K mark and he`s added the extra $3K for wiggle room, whichever way it goes with a name like Ivan and the fact that he only speaks broken english he`s probably gonna be stubborn and difficult to move on price.

Yeah I agree, I think you`ve gotta be suss on everything these days. I`ve seen the Carsales Impala that James is looking at today advertised before too, but I can`t remember how much it was advertised for previously.
