In for a wheel alignment today at Trutrack in North Melbourne..
Here is Ralph doing his thing!

We were wondering why the FR was out of adjustment and a long way from where we wanted it.
So after a short inspection, we (Ralph) saw the issue from under the car.

Here is a HEADS UP to anyone using the sh!tty supplied fasteners that come with upper ball joints. These joints were fitted many years ago and just have regular nuts and spring washers on sh!tty Chinese bolts.
No idea why I used them because they are metric for a start.
Split washers are rubbish. They only "bite" the nuts once they are already loose. They have no "bite" at all when they are flattened.
Anyway, buy yourself 1/4"x1"UHL unf in at least a Gr5 and use either Nylocks or ConeLock/Crimp nuts. That's what's in there now.

Can you see how many are missing? Yes. I shat myself.

Yep. Chuck that sh!t in the bin.
If I ever do my uppers and have the arms off the car, I'm gonna return to the factory rivets using my press.

Yeah. The BJs themselves look OK.

I have a press ... Hmmm ...

Pain in the butt to get off again though - you need to cut them yeah ?

BTW the guys at TruTrack must love working on your car.

I have never fitted the rivets Frank.
There may be some sort of concave mandrel (for lack of a better word) required to forged the end when pressing, plus a similar anvil to support the head. I might Google later when I'm not on this f-ing phone.

They might like working on it but I hate it. I hate people working on my car. It frustrates the crap out of me.

No, it wasn't really moving. I felt no clunks or vibrations through the wheel.

Those marks have always been there and I assume from an impact chisel when the rivets were removed originally many years ago.

Then in traffic the engine stalled. I looked down and saw 9psi. I removed the air cleaner and all the boosters were wet. I removed the fuel cap and expelled a huge gush of vapor, pressure dropped back to 6psi and all back to normal.
...except for the fxcking leak.

This never happened with the previous dead head system. The leak aside, this return system is superior.

Hey, Thanks Luke.
Yeah, the 3rd last one is kinda what I had in mind. Has that old picture, low contrast, reddish hue to it. Just like an old Kodachrome slide.
I miss Kodachrome and taking slides.. Kind of.. Digital sure is cheaper, easier and infinitely more instant, but good memories just the same.

Love this 5th pic too. Blueish hue of Ektachrome!

Thanks again.
