'67 Impala

Well ,finally found a '67 impala, 4 door pillarless , only about 15 minutes drive from home. Didnt like the wheels that came on it , but i already had new ones in stock ready to go.

Before

After

Just need some new std height coils for the rear, side wall on drivers side rear tyre is just touching inside of guard lip.

Interior has been redone, car has only done 69000 miles from new, and engine has only done about 4-5000 miles since rebuild ( was a few years ago though)
Did have a minor mechanical problem 2nd time i drove it, ill post up some more pics later to explain that one .

Im after front and rear bumper guards if you know of any Russ?
Now the minor mechanical problem that i mentioned, last friday had to take car to inspection station for full roadworthy inspection, running like a clock heading up (about 20 min drive) 10 minutes into the return journey engine started missing and developed a rattle. So rang a friend whos the local rac towing operator and mechanic ( local chev guru as well) and home we come on the back of the tilt tray.had to go out for dinner,so at midnight i was checking compression , 2 cylinders were a bit low. Saturday pulled valley and heads of and found this in number 3,5 and 8(not the pen !)

Didn't do any damage luckily, so we are now back on the road! Dropping back wheels off to my old boss this morning to get offset changed, just in time for Christmas!!!

Looks way better with some decent rubber. These big cars need more tyre sidewall and less rim.

Well ,i gave myself an early birthday present on Friday,i may have miss judged my garage opening!!

So it looks like im about to learn how to paint!
Along with that , since putting the engine back together, it hasn't been running 100% . It would idle perfect and up too abot 40mph in low beautiful, but top end was terrible. So chucked in some new points and condenser but still no joy. So next pulled the old rochester apart, cleaned it and put back together and then top end was ok but it idled like a pig( vaccum leak), so back off again ,permatex on all gaskets and its better but not perfect, so i think it will be off with the Rochester and on with a new edelbrock carby ? Also want to change exhaust, just need to find who sells flowmaster mufflers in the country.

Sucks hitting the garage. Watch this quick fix blow out to a full rebuild project. You know it will happen. I see LS swap full body off rebuild. Look forward to the progress pics

I'd be inclined to check ignition system and ensure correct timing before replacing sh-t.
