1970 Chevy Nova Restomod
Finally started the Nova today. Had to remove a sliding window on my shed and ended up replacing it with steel stud and plastic as the window was to hard to get back in and it will probably have to come out again.
I had to fight 40 years of smeg to get the front end off but in all so far there doesn't seem to be much rust. I am sure that removing the smeg will show more though. Subframe just looks like a lot of surface rust at the moment. I home to get the frame off this week and get it blasted and primed. I would have got it powder coated but I am unsure fi there is any rust damage that I have to look at.

As far as colour goes I bought 8 ltrs of Monza Red acrylic for $100 from Supercheap as they switched brands. I would like a deeper red so I have thought about adding some black to it. I have a contact that was a resto grade painter for 20 years so will touch base with him to see what I can do with it.
Pro touring look hopefully I had the following shipped with the car. Tubular swinging arms Rear quarters Door skins Front fenders Inners Rear inners and outers Trunk drop off panels Glass kit Front and rear bunpers Interior door panels Multi leaf conversion kit 2" drop spindles Disk brake upgrade for the front with power booster Replacement drums for back.

I think the car is better put together than say an HQ (from a mechanical point of view). It seem more logical in the way things go together and the components seem to better lend them selves to remanufacture. Definitely a heavier car but very similar to the HQ in technology. Soooo RHD or not? ![]()

Andy don't put black in it ....it will make it dirty not brighter , magenta and orange make monza red ....put more magenta in it , and then clear over it , your painter will no what to do, acylic red dryes darker, so your finish colour is not wet in the tin

Sorry when I said 'I would like a deeper red so I have thought about adding some black to it. ' I actually mean to take the zing out of the red.

Did a bit today. Rusty in the usual places. Bet the Camaro guys have seen this?
Took a bit out of the already cut up quarter. Found a bit of rust that you can see the rear seat through. Also discovered that Summit racing sent the wrong outer wheel well so had a look at the other side As they sent the right one for that. If only it were that easy...

I have just had an email back from Summit and I have to pay the $300 to get it here, have it delivered to a US address or have a refund. Gonna take the hit and have it posted...
