I reckon so. The big 3 tracks seem to be unified against ANDRA. Not making any judgement on who is right or wrong but Drag racing appears to be shooting itself in the foot again.

My concern is licencing and vehicle compliance as far as tech inspections etc. Apparently guide lines will be released shortly. Current ANDRA .License holders are good till expiry of there current license.

Yes, Perth has now made the complete switch from ANDRA to IHRA. Here is some info received regarding licensing and vehicle compliance which will take effect from next weeks race meet, which quite a few racers will be boycotting :
"IHRA LICENSE PROCESS: Current ANDRA licenses will be recognised to facilitate a complimentary IHRA license. The complimentary license will be available for current ANDRA licence holder from 1st December 2015 until 30th March 2016. Any complimentary license will be valid until the expiry date of the current ANDRA license. Each competitor must show the current ANDRA license and complete an IHRA License form prior to being issued a complimentary IHRA license. The IHRA license will be complimentary until the expiry date of the existing license. The Competitor’s Racing number will transfer to IHRA License. Prior to renewal of a current license all competitors must complete a Medical unless they can produce a Medical certificate which is less than 2 years old. License Cost: $70 USD per annum For new license applications visit IHRA.com and complete the online forms TECHNICAL PROCESS: Any current ANDRA Vehicle Technical Inspection will be recognised to facilitate the IHRA Technical sticker. On sighting of current Technical sticker and presentation of current log book an IHRA Tech sticker will be supplied to attach to vehicle. ANDRA Vehicle Logbook must be presented at scrutineering and once sighted an IHRA Log Book will be issued for the Vehicle. 400 Thunder Series Stickers to be located on each side of Professional entrant vehicle in a location to be confirmed in Series Regulations. Bi-Annual Technical Inspection Fee: $100.00 USD for quicker than 7.50 ET seconds and $75.00 USD for slower than 7.50 second ET. Responsibility for the safety of a race vehicle and its safe operation rests solely with the competitor."

Why would the racers be boycotting?

Am I correct in understanding that all licence holders including SST will require a medical ? And all cars/vehicles will require a tech inspection ? If so I can see why some will be upset Tex

Tex I doubt SST will require a medical as they are still using all the ANDRA rules and regs :
"RACING REGULATIONS: All Racing regulations and classes are based on existing Australian racing. An IHRA Australia rulebook supplement to be produced in the near future. Existing technical specifications for all vehicles will be applied." As for the change over, the track just need to sight our current tech sticker, log book and license and they will issue a complimentary IHRA sticker, log book and license. These will be valid until the expiry of the existing ANDRA license. So next year, my guess is that racers who want to race in both series will have to pay for 2 license's, 2 log books, and 2 tech inspections ? The racer's who are pro ANDRA are boycotting, some have even made the decision to park their car's for a while and are simply not racing anymore. For those that just want to race and can't afford to travel don't really have a choice as we only have 1 track here, either race or park it. This has certainly caused a divide in drag racing. Plenty of discussion on the WASSMA and Westside Dragracing Association facebook pages.

It would be nice if the thunder 400 group actually gave a **** about sportsman racers and brought them up to speed .Maybe now would be a good time for them to revisit classes and or ET limits ? For all the agro and bull**** there seems to be little to no difference bought to the table by them . There is no national sponsor and little to none in the way of news reportage . There was certainly no results seen after Sydney . As for racing Sydney racers are in a similar boat if Sydney goes IHRA . Lucky I race my daily driver I guess . Tex
