great to hear Lyndsay - itíll happen one way or another - just a matter of lining up a few planets

Because I am keen as sin to see some hot muscle carving up a short track

Count me in as well Justin, great work trying to get this off the ground. Although not quite built for the twisty stuff but would love to throw the streeter around for some crowd entertainment. I reckon I would take out at least half those cones in "Apoca-Laps V1.0" The tripple treat at the Motorplex looks like alot of fun.....a muscle car only version of that would be awesome fun ?

My .02c

- make the course fairly simple with alot less cones to start with, none of us would have any experience pedalling our muscle cars at this type of event so ambitions would certainly exceed ability otherwise we would spend more time picking up cones than being behind the wheel

- another option, instead of reversing the track as per "Apoca-Laps V1.1, have the right side of the track setup with just a couple of cones for a "freestyle figure 8" track for some extra crowd entertainment

Great to hear the enthusiasm Marty

Love the 02c worth - and valid points - was chatting with a mate on the weekend who mentioned something similar .. go-whoa or similar for the ľ mile monsters

just finished a much simpler track below (just giving a few viewing options for feedback) - plus still plenty of parking/spectator space (or extra events)

but am just chasing up Belmont as they were all keen on Friday with no further replies - need to try and dial in on a good weekend day (was thinking 29 or 30 mar or even 5 / 6 April - need to make sure it doesn’t clash with any other major event)

I did like the look of the triple treat too - but reckon i’d spend a lot of time in the high rpm ceiling - still good fun trying though

but would be great to see muscle of all makes n models havin' a crack at a tailored event - all types of pre-80 classic / tuned / ripped muscle will make for a good variety

Note: the cones are just for basic layout - we’d make sure there was enough forgiveness for enthusiastic pilots in less co-operable steeds

Justin, agree with Marty, less turns will be better for our type of cars, the twisty stuff is pretty wicked in my suby but would be a real handful in the Camaro. We need to learn to drive em first. Check out the duel skid pan hire at AHG, they have about 15 different courses to try and price is not too bad for half day with instructors.

Al - I hear ya regarding too many corners - but if i take too many out itíll just be a ⅛Ē mile with a hairpin

Iíve added a pic with less cones (only added originally to show track layout) which would be more forgiving on most drivers (myself included) but still allow for an element of show-off-manship - and if the lap times proves too quick we could just run a second lap

This should ensure plenty of parking - viewing space remains

Plus - at this stage itís all hypothetical as Iím still waiting on a further reply from Belmont, and MC Motorsport are yet to reply at all - still - Iíll keep campaigning on it - itíll just take a little time i guess

cheers all for input so far, Iím determined to get a dedicated autoX event happening

Justin

UPDATE!!!

Sorry gents - between Motorvation and having to visit site for a lil while, I kinda lost some momentum here

But all is not lost yet, Belmont Park have asked for a meeting to further discuss the potential of this event. AND .. this is after explaining the nature of the event.

Will sit down with them in about 10 days, fingers crossed theyíre onboard and not wanting to hold a kingís ransom over the parking area :roll eyes:

Ö.. stay tuned!

Not sure why the previous pic didnít load up - i seem to be having issues loading my pics atm

Justin

I drove past the venue and noticed that Cavalia have finally moved on _ but it looks like there is some sort of site works going on.
Theyíve fenced the outer perimeter of the carpark so not really sure if it would impact the possibility of an event (might save some barricading??) but am scheduled to meet the events manager and ops manager on Weds arvo - so lets hope all goes well - and they are reasonable with any requirements (and costs)

A bittersweet meeting;

Theyíre keen to host the event BUT we canít use that carpark!!
Itís under contract and construction to Crown for the next 3 months.

They did say we were able to use the eastern carpark area, but will need to map out a track to see if it would even be worth it .. definitely a smaller area

iíll try and download a good pic of the eastern carpark and see if I can build a track on it Ö its a bit smaller than the original - but see what we can do, then put em up for review

Ok - hereís a first crack at a track on the eastern carpark

The track is a bit tighter - so I could fit in some excitement, but kinda looks fun

Thereís ample parking on both sides

Thoughts??

Nice work Justin. I am definitely keen on these kind of events. I have done one at the rear carpark of warrens ultra fast karts before with the teccwa club. I was trying to hire out the AHG airport track (not skidpan) at one point for the day its very affordable with a small group of people on weekdays (its more expensive on weekends because of the V8's running).

Those tree's in and around the track might be a problem, would certainly make me less ambitious
