wiper controller

My wipers are stuck on high speed due to a problem with the motor and cannot be fixed. They operate from a toggle switch on the dash and do not use the variable earth method of the production car. The motor is wired with direct 12 volts to the wiper motor via the switch and was enough to get the roadworthy and if I ever get caught in the rain, which is hardly ever
The question is does anyone know of adapting of controller to vary the speed of the motor from the full 12 volts ? Even another slower speed would be fine.
I was wondering if a earlier model Holden might have a wiper controller that could be adapted ?
Anyone tried something like this and can provide any info I have no interest in repairing the original method

Most wiper motors change brush positions to vary the speed but, you could try the resistors from a heater fan motor
(but you might need 2 or 3 in parallel to handle the current)
Or one of those DIY intermitant wiper kits ?

I recently bought a Hella wiper dwell switch.
It was a bit more expensive than I remember seeing them in shops like Marlows or Goodies year and years ago. Cost me over a hunge if I remember correctly.
I haven't installed it yet but I really needed one and will fit it up soon.
Since the wiper action on older cars often isn't as nice as newer cars my wipers are a pain especially when it's only drizzling rather than pi$$ing down.
Could get you the part number if you like.

Holden VKs have a dwell control on the dash that is seperate to the stalk mounted on/off wiper switch. I'm sure one of these can be made to fit within the OE wiring.
The Gibson guitar tone/volume knob idea is just killer Gav.
I wonder if there's a Spinal Tap version that goes up to 11?

or

Having had a VK I think they're about 3" wide.
I did ponder the idea myself but had nowhere to mount it that wouldn't look too out of place for an older car.

The pic above shows the controller at nowhere near 3" wide.. Maybe 3" deep, but that shouldn't be an issue. Fit it right next to the wiper switch.

Must have mis-understood each other.
The diameter of the controller appears to be far less than 75mm, but maybe 75mm deep. The diameter of the dial/knob is only about 1.5" from memory at that's larger diameter than the rest of the controller.

Thanks for the info guys. Hella seem to have the answer. The VK unit in the picture is the pot only. Not the cct with the motor control
