Newbie from WA

Hi Guys,

This is an awesome site and just wanted to say a quick hello to introduce myself. I am the proud new owner of a 69 Camaro ( on the ocean at the moment and cant wait to get my hands on it), after looking for quite some time!!

I have spent quite a few hours reading through the various threads and after discovering how many Camaro owners there are in west oz I think this is the right community for me.

Hopefully you guys will be able to help me out with some advise on getting it over the pits ( I haven't put a car over in about 15 years ). Any suggestion on which inspection centre to take it to - sure some must be better than others, but I don't think I will have too many issues, hopefully .

I have posted a couple of pics to see what you think.

Cheers,

Lyndsay

Lyndsay,

Nice 69, welcome aboard, many Camaros on here much to the displeasure of many of those without Camaros.

I'm sure the WA guys will chime in there are a couple of threads already with pits tips and tricks in WA.

Tell us more about here, is that an LSx motor or an earlier one ?

Chris,

Thanks for the welcome mate. I haven't seen the car in person yet, but I have been reliably told its running the following kit - I know it sounds a bit dodgy buying site unseen, but I just fell straight in love with it.

-08 GM Factory LS-6 Engine as fitted to the Corvette Z06 with 405 HP
-Tremec T-56 6 Speed Manual Transmission with Hurst Shifter
-Ford 9" Conversion with 4 Pinion Trac Lock and 4.33:1 Gears & Disc Brakes
-Aluminum Cross Flow Radiator wit Dual Electric Fans
-Corvette C5 13" Slotted & Drilled Front Disc Brakes. - have a set of 14in Braer's on the way
-Global West Control Arms.
-2" Drop Spindles.
-2" Dropped Multi Leaf Rear Springs.
-Bilstien Shockies
-Ceramic Coated Headers and Flow Master Exhaust.

I must say there are some incredible cars on here!!

Cheers,

Lyndsay

Welcome Lyndsay,

I'm new here myself and hopefully no hidden surprises on a great looking car. I took mine over the East Perth pits twice and no major problems but the story seemingly changes depending on where and who inspects the car. What area are you in. Hopefully at our next get together your car will be on the road. Good bunch of guys here.

Cheers
Bernie

Welcome to Usmuscle Lindsay I hope your rides all you expect it to be when you get it

I'm one of those jealous guys that Chris speaks of If i could swing it I'd have a '69 in my shed but funds, space and missus are all currently holding me back........and also trying to keep up with the needs of my fleet

Can one of you who won the 53 mil spot me a few reddies

Lyndsay... That is one SWEEEEEET looking 69 mate.

Lurv the running gear you have in it too.

The pits are a bit hit and miss. I have two contacts at two different locations and out of the two I would probably recommend going to O'Connor. Seems to be a bit more relaxed (friendlier) there and not so busy. Only problem is that the office is too small and it can take a while to get served at the counter.

Mitch

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

I was thinking that O'Conner might be the go and it is relatively close to where I live ( Secret Harbour ). I'm expecting it in Perth around the 27th of July, so as soon as it gets it straight over the pits!

To be honest I am peaking a little bit about not seeing it, but with work ( work month on month off out overseas) and everything else it just was not going to happen.. It was built by one of Jesse James's mates out in California for a guy that had the car for 20 odd years, has 35k original miles and 500 run in miles after the rebuild. He wasn't planning on selling it, but he is going though a nasty divorce and didn't want his ex getting it, so its now mine .

Birchy, my thoughts exactly, I was thinking ditch the AC and replace it with a blower for a few extra needies

Lyndsay

Lyndsay,
Marty might be able to advise of a place in Rockingham rather than bringing it up to Oconner..
If you do come to Oconnor.. come early... REAL early...
Not sure if it has settled down now, but when I did my Mustang at the start of the year... I was there before they opened and the line was still nearly out the gate.. (four lanes wide at the front !!)
Its first come first serve, and by 10:30 they were telling new arrivals to turn around an go home... I didnt get out till about 11.
Best bet, is go to one that does bookings.. else you could be waiting around for ages.
