Nevermind

Please excuse my first thread Tambo. I bought a car got import approval it's not linked to NEVDIS. It's ready to roll to vic roads from workshop here in Melbourne I'm on it now and hanging to drive my new addition. Approval is 12mths old car was bought into Australia in May. Should it take long to transfer the Info or vin from DOTARS TO NEVDIS?
Hope that explains! Didn't know how to delete

What is the car you have imported ?
the website states that NEVDIS only records vin for vehicles manufactured on or after January 1 1989

I personally didn't import the car myself. I purchased it from qld. It's a 1983 el camino. Can't register it.
And here goes the thread!

Hey Jax.

Welcome to a fellow Elky owner.

You will still need a VASS for basic stuff like headlights (they need to dip to the left), seatbelts (ADR approved), maybe brake hoses depending on how picky your VASS engineer is ... can't remember what else. Nothing major if it's stock.

Anything made after 1969 needs a Vass before FIRST rego in Aus.

It has nothing to do with Modified or else.

Oh and a NEVDIS record or file is generated after it is first registered. If it not been registered, there will be no NEVDIS file.

Correct me if I wrong, but VASS is only required if the car is going on full registration?
If the car goes on club permit scheme then its just a roadworthy and headlights that dip to the left.

Hi Ken, thanks for your reply. Its going full rego & that probably validates what i did read.
So as of now i need a VASS. Got a weeks permit to drive to get the beast registered & on the road & more importantly to cruises & club meets

I have been through the VASS certificates a few times, its pretty basic, most of it is covered again by a roadworthy anyway.

Its piss easy, don't panic.

Does the VIN on the car match exactly to the VIN on the Import Approval?
