It lives

So, another milestone reached yesterday. Started the engine for the first time in 2 and a half years. I did a cam swap and fitted some new valve springs and roller rockers and have been slowly reassembling the engine and accessories over the last couple of weeks. Lots of planning and making sure everything was right before we attempted to start it.

Yesterday morning, hooked the battery up, flicked the switch and pressed the button and after a while, it fired up and ran great. Had to adjust the timing only about 5 degrees and all good. What amazed me was, so far no leaks or troubles. I guess it's all the planning and pre-work that goes into this that creates a good result on start up.

I love the sound of the car now with the new cam. Just need to fix an exhaust leak at the collectors, but otherwise it appears all is well. Need to tidy up the ignition leads, wiring etc.

I used the GM hotcam kit. I'm trying to work out how to upload a short video, so I'll put that up when I work it out.

Thanks for checking in.

More progress tonight. Got the passenger window in along with the outer window sweep. I really like the look. Getting on with it now.

Update

On Saturday, I finally got the car out of the garage and on to the trailer. So then it was off to the auto electrician for some wiring.

Richard, the sparky has been doing a nice job hiding wiring, wiring up the car including my new thermo fans, and he sent me a couple of really nice pics today of some lights.

Should get the car back next week, so will be able to put the dash back in, carpet and interior. Starting to look like a car again.

Thanks for checking in.

Hi Jim. It's a champion radiator and Ledfoot racing make the shroud/fan combo. Seems like a nice piece but we'll wait and see how the fans go.

Thanks for the compliment Ken. I'm loving getting closer and closer to having it "back" although I don't know what I'll do with myself once I'm done. Although, I don't think it will ever be finished.
