Steve is bang on. I installed dynamat then Dynaliner and it has worked a treat!
No more punishing floor temp / cabin temp.
Trust me DO IT. Tried to upload pics but no success from phone sorry.
Make sure you don't scrimp. Cover whole floor and trans tunnel.
68 Camaro, 434 finally back on the road!

Wow sorry I am a bit slow on the reply

Thanks for all the feedback, from what I can tell this issue is pretty common with people running big blocks and aftermarket exhaust systems.

So answers in a nutshell:
  1. Yes, Exhaust is aftermarket, usual BB type setup (Big 4->1 headers, 3' collectors, twin 3' stainless system) its close to floor but from what I can see it has a small air gap, will need to get it on a hoist to confirm
  2. The Headers are not wrapped, but after my last experience with wrap I will never do it again and would recommend against it! The issue is if anything gets spilled on the wrap or if it gets damp e.g.; overspray from washing the car it will slowly rust the sh!t out of your pipes, the last set I had wrapped looked ok on the outside but basically fell to pieces when they were unwrapped. I may consider HPC Coating in the future as I have done in the past with really good results....its more expensive but extends the life of the pipes and looks a lot better too, unfortunately I won't be ripping the pipes out anytime soon though.
  3. the Floor is fully lined with Dynamat Extreme, followed by the medium thickness Dynaliner which covers the whole trans tunnel and all footwells (front footwells are lined 3/4s up the inside of the firewall too)
  4. I have just fitted new ultra plush carpet that also has a 3/4in matt liner covering all the usual hot areas

Thanks for that link Steve, that SheetHot is exactly what I am chasing!

I am going to grab some of the XT-ULTIMATE and hopefully when combined with the above internal lining it will eliminate a large amount of the heat
