SNL Eastlink Nthbound canned.

Can't see this posted anywhere else yet, but another one bites the dust.

From the Knox Eyewatch Team:

"Saturday Night Live events will no longer be held at the BP Service Stations (North Bound or South Bound) Eastlink due to the risk to public safety please do not attend for the meet as you will be asked to move along thanks Knox Eyewatch Team"

I guess I can understand the concern with cars backed up out on the Tollway, but still a great shame.
At least on the other side of Eastlink, there was a back entrance to the venue.

It is a shame, I had been going a lot this summer and always took the kids and they enjoyed it.
It was getting a bit big but it did not stop me enjoying it.
I wil mis it.

I knew this time would come, bummer.
They could always use one of the Old masters sites, empty car park, Fast food/toilet generally near by?

Drove past the Old Masters Site in Knox, they have now placed fencing around the carpark, probably to stop gatherings and illegal rubbish dumpers?

Where to now?

SNL is on hiatus at the moment, we are taking a few weeks to let the dust settle, but the offers are coming in thick and fast from shopping centres and alternative locations wanting to host it, honestly I am really taken aback at the offers flowing in.

Shopping centres in particular have been the most supportive, we have been contacted by a number of shopping centres that can see that it makes good business sense, after all Sat afternoon / night gives them a whole new market and a number of their food shops staying open late to cater for us.

I will be making an announcement in the next week or so, but at this stage the format we are leaning towards is 1st Sat of the month at location A, 2nd location B, 3rd location C, 4th Location D, then repeat from the beginning.

So far we have 3 locations 95% locked in for monthly meets and all are in the East and South East.

We are leaning towards Chrome Bumpers only, purely to limit the numbers and keep it under control, and basically I am not interested in modern cars.... after all if I wanted to look at commodores and falcons, id go down the Safeway Car park. (Yes its SAFEWAY until the day I die).

Stay tuned.

Awesome Pete, it makes me happy that some people actually see us car folk as attractive to have around not a menace to be eradicated.

Chrome bumper is good, but what about the late model Mustangs, for example?
I can see each venue seeing a gathering of alternative crowds and plastic bumpers on "non official" Saturdays.
Also, is the odd month that has 5 Saturdays.., is the 5th a night off?
