![]() Yep, I learned a long time ago that "Do what ever you want " does not mean that at all.

I measured the difference between LH and RH sides and the RHS wheel is 6mm further inboard than the LHS. Looks a lot more but thats what it measures at. As I said previously, I can't just loosen off the U bolts and centre the axle.
So only thing to do is add a 6mm spacer between the drum and the wheel on the RHS. I looked at spacers on ebay/Summit etc and all are just flat discs. Problem with that is that I loose the centring hub feature between axle and wheel. So only solution is to machine up my own spacer with hub. Did this earlier this week on a mate's lathe. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Trial fitment on the drum shows that the wheel studs are now too short - will only have less than half a diameter of thread engagement. So longer studs are needed. Truth is I knew I'd face this problem anyway. Thanks to Chris (cluxford), Jim (rodent) and Steve (Blackout), for info on longer studs. Turns out I need ARP 100-7701 studs (with 0.486" dia knurled section). Will pick these up tomorrow.

Good thinking Vic! I expect this is a problem for many other cars. Looks like a nice, cost-effective fix.
Evan.

Hey Vic,
My new LED tail lights arrived last night. They look great and I'm very much looking forward to the upgrade. Thanks for the tip. Darren |

Glad I could help Darren. I'm really happy with these lights. Unbelievable how much better (and safer) they are compared to the old bulbs. And they use bugger all current!

After a couple of false starts with ARP wheel studs (neither the 100-7702 or the smaller diameter 100-7701 would press into my axles) I finally got the correct ones. Rockauto came to the reduce with 5 Dorman part number 610-259.1 which were for late model Gen 2 Camaro's with rear disc brakes. They just happen to be 6mm longer than the drum brake stud.
Anyway, hit out the original stud with a mash hammer and pulled in the new ones with a wheel nut and a breaker bar. All 5 studs went on no problem and the spacer just slid on. Beautiful! Bolted the LHS wheel back on and now it has the same offset to the fender as the RHS

Nice work Vic. It's amazing how some things like this can bother us to distraction, then when you get it sorted, you get such a sense of achievement and peace.

getting the aluminium is no problem, but as I said in my post, I used my mate's lathe to make my spacer. I would have to ask him if it's Ok if I used it again. I'll let you know.
