unassted drum to assted discs 67Impala

Hey y'all,

Besides all the cancer to cut out of the body, my first mech need is better brakes. I want it to stop before going ! Has anyone made the drum to disc upgrade on their Impalas?
I'm also wondering if ,as I'm pulling it all out, that I spend the extra and get power assistance too.
I see the kits for the discs, but will I need to add anything else besides the powerbrake booster to get power brakes?

What's the diff' between stainless and "normal" steel rotors?
(I can't imagine them being mild steel..??).
It's a cruiser, but there will be some steep grades sometimes.

cheers
Andrew.

There are many kits available and I would be choosing something along the lines of the stock disc brake set up.
Then, you'll have less issues with fitment, replacement parts will generally be easier to obtain, and most likely cheaper, and they will be suited to the size and weight of the car.
Some popular after market brakes are under-sized and engineers have been known to knock them back.

Stainless Steel brakes is a company name http://www.ssbrakes.com/
No one that I know of makes stainless steel rotors.. Rotors are generally "grey" or "nodular" cast iron.
However, SSBC offer this kit which is a power disc conversion using mostly GM components and will bolt to your existing drum brake spindles..
