Reading this post at work thinking about all the awesome car rebuilds going on at the moment...
then thinking about my cars at home and the $$$ to get them on the road. gah!! ![]() might bring home my Poncho 400 engine and get it ready for a rebuild. |

Went for a drive today to pick up a nine inch diff for my chevelle. Scored a housing that is 80mm shorter than standard, a pair of axles, a centre with no gears and a complete set of disc brakes to suit...all for $500. Not a bad deal. I will have to spend a fair bit more before it is ready to bolt in, however I will then have the flexibilty to change centres at will for highway or racing. I figure once the bracketry is done and the housing ends are changed and the axles are finished, it should only owe me about $2000. This will include a set of 3.89 gears and a full spool. Not cheap, but it will be fully rebuilt and should go forever. Hopefully!!

cleaned the tags off my impala so I can do some tag code searches.
previous guy tried to use wire brush to clean them (it shows with the scrap lines in ID tags) used a little bit of paint stripper, wiped it off, hey presto!

Today, I put silicone over the leavy rivets on the roof.
Now.. You may not think this is working on my car, but in fact, it is.. You see, the roof is on the carport, which has been converted into a temporary shed for when the garage gets pulled down and the new one built. Once the new one is built, this will provide a work place for the the Camaro for the resto to be properly finished.. If it wasn't for the Camaro, I wouldn't be building a new garage, therefore I wouldn't be tearing down the old one, and needing to convert the carport into a temp shed and rooting around with leaky fxcking rivets! ![]() ![]() |
