T700R4 vs 4L60E transmission

Any body know much about T700R4 & 4L60E transmissions?
I bought a heap of upgrade parts for my T700R4 but I have decided I would rather go for a 4L60E.
I understand the 4L60E is electronically controlled but are there common mechanical parts between 700R4 and 4L60E like Planetary gear, clutches, Sun shell etc. Thanks

the 4L60E is the go - like a T400 with overdrive - and was just chatting to a guy building a tough 56 yesterday that has one, with a few upgrades it'll handle 1000hp all day

I think you mean 4l80e. 4l60e =electronic th700. 4l80e = th400 + overdrive + electronic. 4l80e isnít easy to get in Australia, i donít believe it was sold in any cars here.

4l60e is superior to a th700, there is some internal upgrades. There are aftermarket upgrades and builders for the 4l60e due to them being in commodores

Yep 4L80 is basically an electronic TH400 with O/drive from what I've read.

I don't need a 4L80E as I only have a low hp SBC for my pickup.

I do however have a heap of upgrade parts for my T700R4 but I think I'd be better in the long run going to 4L60E and was wondering if the 700R4 mechanical parts can be used in a 4L60E

Nev, if your only running low hp in you pick up, why wouldn't you just stay with the T700, what is your concern with that ?

I sort of got talked into the T700 and should have waited until I finished researching.
I think you are right in that the T700 will hold up.
I just think the electronically controlled shift will be nicer and takes out the potential of me stuffing up the TV cable adjustment and rooting up the trans.

4L60. The 6 denotes the tq rating, 600 ft/lbs.
4L80 can handle 800 ft/lbs.

Haha - What A Dunce I can be .. I must be getting "Parked-Insides" disease, where you start getting loopy on normal car facts due to not having driven muscle cars for so long
