Chevy Kommando Wagon

Hi I have mentioned this car before. Its not an American car it is a South African built Chevrolet Kommando Wagon . Its based on the Holden HG . It has now been painted and the 292 Chevy 6 has been built original motor was 250 Chevy 6 so that's why I stayed with the 6 . When was the last time you saw a Chevy 6 in what for all intents is a Holden.

---------- Post added at 06:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:29 AM ----------

The 292 as I have said almost cost the same as buying a nice 402 SBC from the US . But I have something that is different. It has 1.94 inch undercut intake valves and 1.6 inch exhaust. 1.75 Ratio comp cams roller rockers and port bosses cut out and port lumps bolted in head now flows 248 cfm @.50 lift. Ross 060 forged flattop pistons for a 250 Chevy 6 are fitted with 7.130 inch long Molnar billet rods to allow the lighter 250 piston to be used. Intake is an Aussie Speed 4 barrel intake that will be fitted with an MSD Atomic 4 barrel EFI. Cam is comp cams with 212 degrees duration @ .050 lift .512 lift at valve110 lobe separation. It also has ceramic coated duel headers and HEI Distributor . Should be around 350hp and 400ftlbs engine is 301Ci .

I have also just bought a new TCI Streetfighter TH350 from VPW and a Dominator 2500 stall torque converter. And as can be seen wheels are Halibrand Sweet Swirls .

Very cool and as you say - different.

A Chevy six was the way I was going in my 70 El Camino so my Son could drive it on his Ps. But ended up going with a strong small block after he changed his mind about driving the Elky. the Elky is mine now !

Looking forward to more pics of this build.

Going to tune efi on dyno so will have those figures soon. Its going to be a nice cruiser was going to just keep it as a Survivor but rust needed to be taken care off. Main Difference's other than external are KMH Speedo and Factory AM/FM Radio and Borg Warner Diff which Holden didn't use till the VK Commodore.

Its was imported 2 years ago by Previous owner in Perth. Prior to that it had spent 20 years in a Shed in South Africa after original owner parked it. mileage is correct at 83000km from paper work I have. But no servicing done in over 20 years. It is the only one in the Country I have confirmed there has never been another with Rego in any state off Australia . The Wagon was not listed as regular production till the HQ variant. Information from South Africa list the HG as built to order and only 80 units produced.

Curious how did you go about confirming that?
I've seen several South African-built coupes (same body as Monaros) but the wagon is a refreshing change, especially with the 6. Cool!

There are a few El Camino utes HG , Kommando/Kingswood/Premier Sedans, Constantia/ Broughams & SS/Monaro in the country . Just emailed each state with my vehicle details they replied none on record. I also are on the South African Holden Chevrolet register but confirming the wagon was easy it was not a regular production car until the HQ . HG was built to order information from South Africa is only 80 were built most for South African Police hence colour . This wagon was only wagon for sale in South Africa in last 5 years I was watching for something different. I missed out then 12 months later person who beat me put it up for sale in Perth after paying 66000 Rand and importing it.

Love something different, with that big 6 it should really thump along.
Saw a Sth African imported HG? Monaro at Bright recently, same-same but different.
Love what you're doing Geoff.
