Quick Update

Just a quick update. Got the diff put back in the car last night. It's great to finally be putting stuff back on.

The firewall will be painted in colour this week so we can refit the front subframe then put it on all four wheels, then off to the paint booth. Getting exciting.

Scott,

I'm not sure. I'm leaving that up to the painter, as I don't really know what to ask/look for in terms of paint quality and value for money. As long as they are prepared to guarantee their work and products, I have no concern. Oh, and as long as it is nearly half as nice and shiny as yours turned out. Well done again.

Darren

Car was delivered to Southern Rods last Wednesday, with some parts I had at home

Balance of parts that were in storage unit delivered on weekend. Van taking them, broke a timing chain 50km from Shepparton. Always an adventure

By Monday arvo they had parts sorted, car torn down and on it's way to media blasting with new panels.

I hope to get up there early next week to discuss direction etc, but these guys are very good.

I'll post updates over in build thread

Hey Scott,

Thanks for checking in. Nope, not painted yet, stuck in paint jail. The shop has just taken on too many jobs at the moment and can't seem to get to mine. I'm a pretty patient guy though and am happy to wait. They let me use their shop, all of their tools, hoist, welder and anything else I want and even give me the keys when they're not around, so I can't complain. No progress also means I'm not spending any money on it while it sits, so there are plenty of positives. I certainly don't want to rush them and get a sub par job.

I will be giving a gentle nudge though this week and we'll see how we go.

We have colour.

So, we worked pretty hard over Saturday and Sunday mornings getting the firewall, door jambs and trunk jambs finally prepped for paint. Then, just after lunch yesterday, it got it's first squirt of colour.

The photos don't show the depth of the colour, but I'm really happy with the outcome so far, and I couldn't get the smile off my face yesterday to finally have some colour on the car.

Back on four wheels

Got the subframe reinstalled last night. It's good to have the car back on the ground.

Update

Well, not much to report really. Not much happening on the body at the moment but that should change next week.

In the meantime, I've been reassembling the engine with a cam and rocker swap. The usual pictures below.

Hoping to get the engine (block and heads at least), radiator support panel and other bits and pieces painted tomorrow night.
