Talk to Lumleys, I've been with them for 10 years. Got all our cars with them (5) and have had a couple of claims with absolutely no hassles, they're even looking at paying out for tools i had stolen that weren't covered by the policy. Cant recommend them high enough.
Hope it all goes well Chris, have you found a good preferred panel shop up there?

I just did the quick quote exercise with Enthusiast.

Fully comprehensive @ $270 for same agreed value as Shannons @ $790!!

That's a massive difference.

Will be keen to hear how things go with the Buick Chris.

Peter it's done, all approved, I'm just waiting for parts to come from US now, once they arrive the panel shop will get started. From the insurance perspective it's all done and wrapped up.

As I said earlier in this thread, somebody has to pay for all that advertising Shannon's does.....

And that will be you, the customer!

I've got 5 cars with Shannon's, recently called them for a review, i got a small discount (moved 1 car to a limited use vehicle) and saved $80..

Problem is it's all tied up with home insurance etc.. (bundle discount)

I'll have to give Enthusiast Ins. a call tomorrow and see what they can do, if total saved is better than what i save on bundling i'll definitely move..

Three of my friends have switched over to enthusiast now. All amazed at the price difference over shannons.

I'm in the same boat Steve, if you could get back to us that would be great.

I generally cant complain about the insurance from shannons for my classic car its my daily drive car where i get hosed and the sad fact is its not really even a daily driver its just that it was made in the millenium.

i just swapped my camaro over from shannons to enthusiasts with an agreed value of 85k which is the same as shannons ($920/yr) and got it down to $385/yr which seems pretty good to me.

I am about to swap the wife's Jeep over too as it is about $200 cheaper than RAC ($650/yr)

Poor old Shannon's......

If the 'desertion' rate continues, they might have to start pulling some of the channel 10 ads....

Why the huge premium differences...are Shannon's overheads that much they need to charge double / triple?

Or is there something else?

For me shannons only had a 750 excess where as enthusiasts is a 1500 excess which drops my yearly premium down (bit of Barefoot investor stuff going on)

Other than that i would say there are a few little details that may be different but must be in the fine print.

Most companies allow you to choose the excess amount & the premium is adjusted accordingly. I am with Enthusiast & my excess is $250.
