LA as in Los Angeles or Louisiana?

If its Los angeles I can't believe that it would still be there waiting for another car.

Just used Adrian from Classic Custom Imports, to transport a vehicle for me and couldn't recommend him more.

Contacted him on the 23rd of September he made it all happen for me with the minimum of fuss, and its expected to arrive in around 2 weeks time.

He's an absolute champ.

Chris

Im sorry mate, I've only just seen this thread and I feel really bad. I dont have the time like I used to to cruize all the forums but I did enjoy reading up on peoples builds when I could...I just wake up and post "this day in history" do my emails etc and get on with my day...I wasnt aware that you had called...Im really sorry....Im normally very good with that....most people will tell you, I always answer my phone. If I dont answer its normally because Im in a plane or Im on another call chasing up a car

Its 4am here and Ive been up since midnight and its been that way for months.

I apologize that it took so long waiting for a container destined for SA but it was totally out of my hands....so much so, that I ended up sending my Chevelle weeks ahead of schedule (before it was even finished) to help with the situation and fill the container. Something I really didnt want to do

I only got a confirmation email hours ago that the car has finally been shipped and I have forwarded that onto you however I notice you were notified 2 days ago....seems kinda odd. If I would of known a few days ago, I could of forwarded it then. If you check the email it shows the time I received it...only a few hours ago

Either way mate, please accept my apologies and I hope you can understand that this was out of my control....I really thought that by sending my car earlier would of helped but like you...I had to wait also

Adelaide is pain in the butt...I wish we'd gone with melbourne now. You would be driving it

Im not making any excuse for this....The shipping company just didnt have enough cars to consolidate going to SA...still, I hope my apology is worth something and you understand its sincere

That said, Im hoping that my Chevelle is in with yours otherwise Im gonna be extremely pi55ed...I didnt want to send that car untill it was finished

Check your email, everything is smooth sailing from here. All your customs and paperwork is taken care of and the only hick up that can be thrown at you is if AQIS says you need to clean the car...is what it is on that one

if you get stuck with anything, please call me

See you in January for a beer

Matt

Hi Chris , it must be frustrating having to wait so long for your car!
I have just purchased another muscle car from the US and once again I used CLASSIC CUSTOM IMPORTS I can't speak HIGHLY of Adrian and the boys at (C.C.I) your not just a number and they know exactly where your car is at ALL times. I am sure I will have no problems with this import as when Adrian takes over its all in his hands.
By the way Chris some fella on this site suggested that when I imported my first car and it got here so QUICKLY!!!!! that I must of put it on a SCUD MISSLE? not at all Chris just in the trusty hands of C.C.I

Well i thought I would update I received the car on Thursday!

The ship was behind about a week, which is nothing uncommon.

It docked in Adelaide 7/12/14 was un packed by the day after. The car had to have extra cleaning done, this cost an extra couple hundred.

So I want this thread to be an informative one of the whole process so if someone was thinking of importing they can get a better idea.

When the boat was on the water I had to pay another invoice to the cargo handler, which they can work on your behalf to pay each individual charges as follows in my case:

origin documentation, fee handling $200
port charges/whaft unpack $937.30
Delivery order fee $70
courier chargers $15
destination cargo automation fee $25
arrange aqis inspection fee $45
customs clearance $150
Aqis compliance $55
Customs duty/GST on total value $3195
CMR/edi fee $25
destination security surcharge $10
inspection fee- AQIS $90
destination AQIS fee $140

Total $5099.80

So the total cost apart from the purchase price of the vehicle was $10,012aud

All in all I will import another vehicle again, apart from the holdup at the LA shipping yard the whole process has been pretty easy.
Car vehicle is exactly as described with no hide nasties which is a relief.

Cant wait to start driving it now....
