I had to chase the importer. I would suggest you do likewise from the minute the car lands. I believe they should be available once it clears customs.

They should be sent to you or your broker UPS or Fedex when the container has left port. You should receive them before your car hits Australian waters on the ship.

Whoever applied for the IA will have the email from Dotars with the IA file att.
Do you know who is doing the IA? Are you sure the agent is applying for it and not waiting for it from you? The OZ agent will require the IA for customs clearance/paperwork a week or so before the boat docks here.
Either way, a copy of the IA is all you require for your rego etc. Dotars email the IA now for printing, so no more letters in the mail.
Your orig title/receipt may be in the car,or possibly posted to you or [more than likely] your OZ agent.
You can apply for an IA copy with Dotars anytime.
No need to jump on the legal train, its no biggie really. If the agent in OZ is handling the IA along with the shipping just sit back and let them do the hard yards. Youll get all the required paperwork off them in the end.

Agree with above. Title is just a piece of paper now. You will only need the import approval and a copy of bill of sale from the seller to say you are the new owner for registration.

I have the same question but on the other way around. I have to leave Australia to go back in France after wonderfull years spent in Sydney.
I bought in here my car and I don't know what do I have to do to take it with me home? Any idea of the price it will cost me :s
Thx
