I'd love a new mustang but I wont part with what I have so I will have to look from afar.

Too many New Mustangs on the road at all car shows these days, certainly don't do anything for me, just another Plastic car with poor panel fitment and paint defects from the factory-I have been told by a local Ford dealer they send many cars to there local panel shops for a tidy up paintwork and panel alignment prior to owners taking delivery, mainly on the lighter coloured cars, The darker colours hide the panel alignment issues with the gaps and people think they are fantastic. I'd take a 60's example anyday over Plastic.

The new Mustangs aren't really to replace a classic Mustang or car. It's a daily driver. I can't think of anything else I would rather drive new for $60k.

It's no different to what they did with '60s Mustangs when they were new...

Agreed Frank. Looks like a fun, good value way to get around during the day, but take the classic to the car shows not the showroom-fresh modern car.

A friend of mine with a early Camaro has bought a new Muzzy as his everyday driver. Cheaper than buying a fully specced Holden.....And it goes better, handles better & gets reasonable economy.

Looks like the new Mustang has something in common with old Muscle Cars, bot a death trap if you have an accident. Only 2 star ANCAP rating! This means your as safe in a Great Wall Ute!! Unfortunately it looks like Ford went for style over safety.

The safety rating has been done to death, it's mostly BS and was tested to newer European standards that would downgrade most other newish cars that are sold here as well. The 2018 model will address this.

yet I drove across 4 states in the US less than 8 weeks ago and I reckon I saw less than 3 per day, with many many hours of road time per day.
Shows when the customer has significant options the crapstang is the last choice. But when there are no options, everyone doubles down

I dont think they are bad thing so until the other manufacturers step up and instead of talking about what they are going to release actually release the cars over here the muzzy is the only us muscle on offer that is reasonably priced.

The Corvette is a level above the Mustang and won't be a direct competitor if it comes here. Camaro on the other hand would make a dent in sales if they decided to build them for the RHD market.
As for the Mustangs, there is a glut of them in dealerships now, they have caught up with the initial demand and a lot of buyers are holding out for the 2018 model. Around March-April will be a good time to buy if you are in the market. |
