1955 Oval Window dub - sorry Not US Muscle

Guys,
Iíve decided Iím going to sell my Oval window Beetle. Iím the second owner and due to a lack of space, itís now been relegated to the backyard after being garaged its entire 58 year life.

I bought it a few years ago off the original owner. Its got the original factory 36hp engine. Not sure about rebuilds etc, but it goes well for what it is.

Factory original throughout, with the original condition seats and door cards. The headlining is long gone and the carpet looks like it was replaced a long time ago.

Currently out of rego, it expired a couple of months ago. I could add 3 months rego at the buyers expense.

Body and floor pan is very good, no rust that I know of. Body has had one repaint, a long time ago, but its in pretty good shape considering.

Has the heart tail lights, semaphores working, original batwing steering wheel, shifter, pedals, all glass is correct and original. It has dropped spindles on the front and dropped a couple of notches at the rear. Iíve got the original spindles to go back on the car if the new owner wants to go that path. Has four conventional tyres with whitewall flappers.

I have the cars birth certificate from the Fatherland and it shows it was built on the 6th June 1955, transported to England , then exported to Australia CKD.

Everything is great on this old girl and Iím only selling it because Iíve run out of storage room so itís now being parked outside in the weather.

Would need a battery as the one thatís in it has been sitting for some time uncharged (may just need a charge).

Iím asking $9000 ono as it sits.

Email me at ducfat944@gmail for more info or pics.

Cheers
Matt

Did you tell me about this one Matt...?

Nice looking bug - I assume you're getting the word out on the Veedub forums/CarSales etc as well?

A nephew is into Veedubs (mostly kombis) but I'll forward the link to him in case.

I probably haven't mentioned it to you Simon. Had it for a few years now and never get around to driving it. This is the second one, I sold another one about nine months ago. I've posted her up on a couple of Dub oriented forums also.
Was gonna drop around yesterday but ran out of time. I've got a DVD for you to check out. (Music) lol

Look forward to catching up Matt - I'll be back at it this weekend performing open heart surgery on my left rear quarter.

After being hooked up to life support and undergoing 4 sessions of reconstructive surgery, I think the patient is going to pull through without needing too much make up (umm....I mean filler!)

Hey Matt...that was a quick sale! You didnt even give me the chance to try and sell this one. Is it staying local?

New engine is in and running, we will have to catch up.

Good news about the engine running. I'm always up for a cruise mate, just give me a shout.

If you're cruising with Greg, apparently you'll need earplugs!

True that......it really was a one of a kind. I was the second owner and the original owner hadn't modified it in any way, apart from the old school hot dog muffler and repaint a long time ago. No holes cut anywhere for radios, gauges, aerials, original engine, tranny etc. correct tail lights, doors, trim, seats, speedo marked correctly as 6/55 build, it just hadn't been fcuked with. It's the sort of car we'd all like to find, whether its an old vee dub or american classic.
I'm sort of kickin myself now for selling it, even though I didn't really like driving it. I just felt bad having to store it outside after its been shedded all its 58 years.
I took the cover off it last week in the back yard and there was moisture everywhere. Not good.

If it was still for sale... I'm pretty sure I would have bought it. I've been looking at a 68 in the Hunter but would really like an OVAL and my mates here are right into them, one has a couple of Ovals but they are more rat... I picked up a 56 Split window bus project
