We were there for about 12 hours, had to stay for the fireworks, which were pretty good.
We went on a weekday and by lunch time it was packed.

You are right about the kids.
Red cordial must have been on sale.

We had planned to go out to Barry Whites, but ran out of time as it is miles from where we were staying.
We are heading back to LA later but I have to make a call between Barry White's and the Edelbrock museum.

We arrived in Denver today.
Heading off to Rocky mountains tomorrow and Super Chevy show on Saturday.
Weather looks a little dodgy so I hope we don't get any rain or storms

Definately go see Barry. His shop had heaps of cool stuff to look at last year when we went, and Barry and his staff are very accommodating and will let you look at anything in the shop. He likes to stand around and have a chat with us Aussie's.

I highly rate Barry White's speed shop over Foose's shop 'tour'.

West coast customs is worth a look, and not too far away.

OK, I will try to get to Barry's.
Actually I was a bit disapointed with the Foose set up, but they did explain that they are mid way through a workshop expansion.
Should be complete in around 12 months time

SoCal shop was heaps better

Off to Super Chevy show tomorrow but today we went down to Colorado Springs.

Went to Manitou cave dwellings

Also checked out Pike's Peak.
After a drive up that "hill" I can't see how they hit 130 mph up there and don;t shoot over the edge.
There must be about 50 metres of Armco the entire drive up to the peak
Temp dropped about 30 degrees Fahrenheit from the base to the peak.

Didn't actually see a bigfoot
'

No guard rails most of the way up

We made it.
Actually felt a bit strange while we wer at that altitude, a bit strange in the head (more than normal)

...and on the trip back down they check your brake temp at around the halfway point.
If the temp is near 300 they make you pull over to let the brakes cool and give you a little lesson about using low gear.
The blokes near us were in a F250 that had front brakes that were smokin'

Id go to the Edelbrock museum. Plenty of history and they have alot of their own cars on display. Heaps of cabinets full of pix and history, from exotic castings to rare HP stuff they have made through the years, kinda similar to the NHRA museum. Vic Jnr will chat n autograph for you too. Much nicer guy who likes a chat about anything auto.
Barry's is just another workshop, nice guy n'all but you'd be done in under an hour, same as Fooses [yawn]....

later Dave

PS, what,no sideways action pix in the renter at PP? lol..keep em coming Nev

Hi Dave,
I think Iwas expecting a bit too much from the Foose workshop but they assured us that it was going to bigger and better next year.
We actually met Chip and he is a nice bloke.

I have to tell you that I was a bit concerned in a few places on the drive up Pike's peak.
The road is just wide enough for 2 cars (one going up and one going down), and as you know our US mates luurve the big ass F250's, Dodge Rams etc and it doesn't leave much room (no guard rails WTF!!)
So there was little chance of sideways action but a fair chance of me driving over the edge

We got to the Super Chevy show today.
Not what I expected but it was fun just the same.
It's basically a drag race meet with a show and shine and small swap meet.

The location is great, less than 30 minutes out of Denver

I haven't been to a drag race meet for many years so I really enjoyed the spectacle, sound and smell.

Here's a few shots of the racing and show and shine.

Woohoo, actual drag racing

Here's the bride in a new SS Camaro, she also tried the convertible for size

really nice and had an LS2

You've gotta get a shot of a 57 at a Chevy show

The real deal. This is a ZL1.
Had a long talk with the owner. Poor bugger he only has 10 Camaros, 1 pro-tourer 55 Nomad (that was also at the show) a 32 Ford with LS1 and a 5,000 square foot garage

Survivor Z28.
I really liked this thing as although the paint was rooted you knew exactly what this car was about (no hidden rust under shiny paint etc)

---------- Post added at 12:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:56 AM ----------

Woohoo, more drag racing

This reminds me of someone's car

Twins

I thought the dragsters were loud but.....

Mopar sponsor it as a NHRA event at that track.

Ford also sponsor a NHRA event at the Bristol track.

Still travelling around the US.
We have made the drive from LA to Vegas.
It is fairly warm, around 46 degrees Celsius yesterday.

Here's some shots of the drive to Vegas

If you decide to visit the Route 66 museum don;t go on a Tuesday (like I did ) as it is closed

This bloke was keen. A "woody"without any glass in around 45 degree heat

Saw a few interesting cars being moved around but only actully got one in a photo

Went to the Shelby Museum / workshop (soory no photos in the workshop as they request "no cameras")

Saw this GSX while driving around in the carpark near the Shelby workshop. Nice!

I've never seen so many cars with tyre blowouts, must have seen at least 6 cars over the last 2 - 3 days.
This one ended up facing the wrong way on one of the freeways leading into Vegas

Satin black cadillac on the strip

Here's a few shots of the Strip at night.
I don't gamble but I reckon Vegas is a "must visit" if you come to the US
Plenty of thing to do and see.

I am trying to get to the Imperial Palace car museum today

Here's some pix from Imperial Palace car museum.
About 90% of the cars in this "museum"are for sale
The cars are in excellent condition

Not muscle, but something diferent (Nash Metroplitan)

New Hoover Dam bypass bridge, quite an engineering feat, but not quite as impressive as the dam itself

1 more day in Vegas then off to the Grand canyon
