Best of luck with it mate. The only way to learn is to get in and do it. My advice, with the beauty of digital cameras now document everything as you pull it apart, you can then refer to the picture when the time comes to put it back together.
As far as the paint and body work goes remember that the preparation is what will make the paint look good. Feel free to ask any questions re the paint. There are a few of us painters lurking around here.
