The DSE setup is not a triangulated design like HQ/HX/HZ/LC/LJ. It is parallel 4 link with panhard rod to locate the axle. Optimal design though. Especially for circuit and 1/4 mile.

If you put two 22 ohm resistors in series, you have 44 ohms and probably insufficient field current. You need to put them in parallel :). Hope this helps.
