Thanks guy's, the rear rubber is 285/35R18 which is within the regs for WA. I purchased everthing through Jay at SpeedTech, we had a slight mixup with the rear tyres and they arrived with 275/40's which aren't legal due to the overall diameter. Jay has organised the right tyres to be shipped over so i've taken the opportunity to split the freight costs and purchase a T56 Magnum. I highly recommend Jay for sorting any bit's you need, in my case it was added bonus with him having the same car, he even went out of his way to measure his setup and body offsets so i could make sure everything fits.

Wow, you aren't messing around! I'd have liked a magnum but stuck with the t56, for the moment anyway. Will be fun to drive once it's on the road & not have to worry if the box will hold up.

Can back you up there. I've got most of my bits thru Jay as well, inc my wheels. He great to deal with

I did a bit of homework on the T56, the TR6060 is a step up from the original T56 but doesn't come in Auz with the rear yoke arrangement, to buy a secondhand TR6060 then changeout the rear housing /shaft etc it costs around $3600, to buy a magnum from Hurst drivelines it's $3200 US, add ex rate, freight and GST it's around $4200. i'd rather pay 600 bucks more for a new bow thats top of the pile.

Popped down to Rowe & Sons today, a bit more progress in the last two weeks. they also expanded the inner guard to create a bit more clearance for ther tyres, quarter will go on for the last time early next week then the rear valance and boot floor will be replaced.

Had word from customs this week, all my bits are here so very eager to fit the rear suspension / wheels to check clearances.

Easter bunny came early today in the form of UPS postal, bit of a nervous moment prior to delivery as i was informed that my shipment was damaged and that they had submitted an intent to claim against the shipping agent.
Shot down to my mates workshop after work and found the side of the crate stoved in.
Unpacked everything and to me relief I found everthing in one piece and nothing bent or broken.

That's good news that nothing was damaged, would have been a real PITA if it had been!

I'm not a fan of postal companies, I ordered some headers for my VL a while back, and got home one day to find a box labelled "performance parts" on my front porch for all to see, no idea what time it got dropped off but I assume it had been there for the best part of the day, not happy!

Can't wait to see more build pics of this beast!

Nice stuff. This should get you along way in to it

You don't need to change out the whole tailhousing on the 6060, theres a kit to mount an alloy adaptor to carry a big TurboXR6 Cv joint for the front uni n make special driveshaft with cv on front end.

smithy71RS 28-03-2014 07:28 PM

Alan, I was only concerned about putting the big block torque through the CV joint and wasn't to confident that would handle it. Yep, very big chuck of hardware sorted, still have to sort out the direction with the motor, i have the big block but would prefer to go stroked LS2 wiith high ram and 2 x throttle bodies. As it stand i only need radiator, wiring, new glass and seat covers, everything else is sorted. The bonnet is another issue yet to sort, i have both an original and 2" cowl, unfortumately the cowl hood isn't a quality fit. I'm thinking about modifing a second bonnet or going for an Anvil hood.
