Car arrived on a flatbed last night. Lot a work to do, found some rust issues and electrics problems. But the 327 fired ok
Now the fun begins

Rust is a standard feature on Camaro's :p
Can't be worse than what mine was ;) but it's all fixable...
Keep us up dated with how it goes.. i wanna see how hard it is to do the bigblock conversion.. let me know and troubles you get in :p

Mossie71, I paid A$30,000 delivered to home. Maybe to much but I wanted a going concern , manual, posi rear end and decent paint. My plan is to get the rust out of it, get a roadworthy with CH plates and use as is for a couple of years. Being a old fart I plan to retire in a couple of years when I will have the time for a complete resto and the Missus can have the TV remote back :D Would appeciate your comments on the price :(

going.. i'd say 30K isn't too much.. just all depends on how bad the rust really is...
Put up some more recent pic's.. as we can't really tell too much from that pic.. but paint looks good and body straight...

$30K IMO is not a bad price for a good 69...... hell I am looking in the USA right now for another project 69 or 70-74 Cuda..... Needless to say I am on a wild goose chase for what I am after! These cars are getting rare in their own country so if its in decent shape you can't go wrong! FYI I have seen not so great 69's sell up in NSW here for around the $40K mark and they look presentable but far from been the nice!
I plan to sell my Pro touring when completed and I will be putting it up in around the $50K - $60K Region......

true.. you just have to open up a recent just cars (or unique cars if you want to up all prices by 20%) and see how much they are selling for, if you can find them...

Thanks for the comments Guys. I will post some pics later when the interior is stripped. The rust is in the floor and boot and seems to be no problem for my body guy. Sections I require are all available - its only money :(
The body and the guards are fine.
I hope I can look back in a couple or years and think the price was good

That you will my friend! :)
I wanted to take the next plane trip to america and belt the sh*t outta the guy I got mine from.... I was mislead and I don't like that! Anyhow not that its right but now just to buy the same project over again I would be paying double! I got mine back in Dec 04 when they were on the rise!
I guess the question is when will they stop going up?
Cheers

no offence meant.. but US guy's have a different comprehension of a "Good" condition car...
We have a different standard here..
My brother works with a mustang importer who constantly gets 64-71 mustangs over, and most come saying they have new perfect spray jobs.. when they land he usually strips them and resprays them... some of the paint jobs.. I could do better with 2 liters of acrylic.... and a diesel compressor...
I think since we have drier conditions here (and no salt on our roads) we are not used to seeing rusted out muscle cars lying around on the side of the road... where to them it's normal.. so a little bit of rust (a whole guard/floor) to them is nothing.. where to us it's 2 years work :p
In saying that.. they are being sales men as well.. they know we are dying for anything they can give us, and just think we won't go over there and complain :p
$30K.. even now you are ahead of the pack....

I hear you on that one... but the ass hole I got my one off totally bull sh*ted me...... Not that I would have minded because I also bought another 69 from Minnesota and it was well??? f*cked
BUT the thing there was I knew it..... the guy was the most honest bloke and very helpful kind of guy.... when it got here It was actually a bit better than I thought.. IMO
Bottom line I don't like it when people piss in my pocket.
But I totally hear you on that..... 90% of Americans have a different standard as opposed to what we are use to from my experience..... alot of the time I think its by choice just to make a sale!

End of the day we all need to take a gamble.. And unless we want to go and see every car and thoroughly inspect it over there we will get stitched 9 times out of 10... :p
