Engine mounts, SB -> BB

Alright, i know the mounts are different and sit in different spots, i have a set of BB mounts... But.. where do i put them? is their a standard measurement? or do i have to trial fit a dummy motor to see where it sits best? (the option i'm leaning towards..)


Also, never done BB's before, i know 427/454's are the same block so the mounts will be in the same spot.. but would a 502 use the same location?

As i'm still undecided on the motor (been getting more and more excited about the ZZ502/502 crate motors).. but can't decided.. in the meantime i think i should organise the mounts soon...

Anyway can anyone help?

Yes your 502 will mount in the same position as the 454

You may wanna head over to http://www.camaros.net/forums ask the guys over there they are pretty halpful and probably could provide pics of the mounts installed on the SF

They should be the same.
Although you will need different mounts to the engine, usualy come with the motor if you buy it privately.

I was actually speaking to a few people on the weekend about it, and they assured me the chassi mounts are the same.. but can't hurt to keep asking :p

MrVette, i was given a new set of bigblock engine mounts as a present when i told the person i bought it off i wanted to put in a big block.. i think he got more excited about it than i am.. wish i could ask him this q'n but i think he's currently in the states on another buying trip...
