Umm well Marty :o the engine bay is nothing special, needs some work, the electrics need a tidy up, it has the factory a/c mounted under there (which looks horrendous) but as it was one of the few '73's that came with factory a/c we had the original parts hunted down & installed whilst it was in the USA.

Showing you guys what is under the hood is like bearing my soul :p
Just joking.. I will try to find some photos.

We're hopefully getting our shed built before Xmas & a shiny new hoist so we can finally get some more work down on the cars. Our Sambucca has been locked up & under covers since Feb, a little neglected :(

Hey all.
My name it Tim l ive in Toowoomba. I have only just stumbled across this forum and signed up as I Have just gottern my passion reignited for muscle.

I have owned a 82 camaro for the past 5-6 years now it was my second car first love. It has teached me so much, having rebuilt/ reconditioned and tidied it up.

http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab182/V8er/PC170005.jpg

It has been my day drive for this time and I now find my self looking for a new project as I'm finishing cleaning it up.

I also Ride and build street fighters. but this is probaly not of interest to you lot. Just the fabrication and repair really make me tick. I have spent the last 2 years building bikes and now with a renewed passion in what drawed me in to chasis twisters it is time for me to finish what I started, so I can move on to another V8.

Hi US muscle team, just wanted to say hi and thanks for having me. I don't have a fine piece of US muscle ...yet... but am hoping to share a story to highlight the lasting impact of a well sorted muscle car.....
It was around 2000-2001, and I was driving home from a bizarre event - burnout art at the docklands - with my wife and a mate when we came across a red light in Elizabeth St. (outside Autobarn). The two cars stopped in front of me at the lights were a VN Commodore loaded with "da boyz", and next to it... a certain black 69 Camaro with BLKOUT plates and the Coop Wrench Devil sticker in the rear windscreen. This Camaro was given the Commodore all hell, with free revving and semi stall-ups, until the light went green and the Camaro launched perfectly, leaving the Commo heaving behind....what a sight! I pulled alongside the Camaro and gave it the thumbs up for an awesome display (I was in a white 90's Falcon)...all inside the Camaro were laughing at what just happened and having a great time...
For some time, I saw BLKOUT parked on the street in Blackburn and I drooled every time I passed it on the way to Bunnings.... I'm guessing that must've been you Blackout Steve? Anyway, great memory and a great motivator...I'm still waiting for my elusive Camaro to become available (and also the $$ to fund it!) but 10 years on...I still remember that little scene. Thanks again guys, hope you don't mind me taking a look around here until I get a real car?

Hi US muscle team, just wanted to say hi and thanks for having me. I don't have a fine piece of US muscle ...yet... but am hoping to share a story to highlight the lasting impact of a well sorted muscle car...

Hello Craig, I'm real sorry about over-looking your post.. What a great story! Ahh the memories. :D
I remember that day of the "burnout art" at the Docklands. I also remember part of the drive home. My passenger who would have been in the front is a good friend of mine who loved to ride in the car, but used to get anxiety attacks from it (talking about a guy who rode a Hyabusa), so he would put on his full face helmet. I thought he was joking at first, but he was dead serious. It used to crack me up! Just in case you saw some guy wearing a helmet, that's the reason why.
I don't recall the actual event on Elizabeth St (there were many!), but it sounds very typical of a usual outing in the car, and I'm glad you enjoyed the show! :D
There were a lot of situations like that one. It got boring, so I used to give head-starts, or give the impression that I was flat-out, and then just floor it and rip past them. The front would lift and noise was just brutal. You may remember that it was pretty loud.. The look on their faces was often the best part. Sometimes the fear and shock of WTF?, but most often they just knew they'd been fooled and were either pissed off about it or like you, enjoyed the show even if it was at their expense. :D
Thanks Craig and I hope you get your elusive Camaro real soon. Enjoy the forum. ;)

I've been lurking on the site for a little while and thought it best to join, I participate in a lot of forums that are based in the US so it will be great to converse with some guys here in Oz!!

I'll work out how to put some pics and see how I go, not sure you guys will be too enthralled with them, mine are all completely stock! The convertible isn't here yet, if she makes it to the shippers in time she should be leaving the USA on Wednesday but I'm not certain it will make the boat yet. The Sport Sedan is in pieces in my garage and she'll be rested a bit longer once the convertible gets here, I've been buying bits for her but I still need to id a good quality painter who isn't going to absolutely destroy my bank balance!

Is there a link on how to post pics? :o

Hey everyone,

Just joined the forums.
Have been saving for the past 3 years to buy my first car. (muscle car of course!)
My ideal car is a 1971 Dodge Challenger in black with a 440. With a budget of $45,000 it might take me some time to find this. Hopefully I might be able to find some help on here and purchase the car sooner rather than later so I can start driving it with you fellas !

Check out the WTB thread if you can help out! Cheers

jbrucem1
02-05-2011, 08:08 PM
yes mate. where do you start
Dec 68 coupe, originally lime gold..fairly stock, with 69 shelby convertible side scoops, king springs ultra low fronts, blocks in rear (will get new leafs when the cash is available).
302 windsor, mild worked truck heads, tri-y extractors into 2 1/2 exhaust with little redback mufflers.600 holley with weiand alloy intake. Comp cams XE284 cam (quite big - too big really but sounds super neat).rebuilt C4, currently in market for good, reasonably priced 2500 hi stall..XE x-flow radiator keeps her cool.stock inside apart from a few guages (all new, did it all myself).. The paint is by far the biggest downfall, only 8 months old, but the prep work by the beater wasnt great so its no show car.which is fine because i intent to drive it as much as realisticly possible..still looks Ok though!!
is that enough..I could go on

Hi all

Just joined the forum, but you will have to bare with me as computers left me behind around Pac-man time. Currently driving a 1970 RS Camaro with a small block and have a 1968 RT Charger sitting out in the shed waiting for funds and time. Hope to be able to use this forum for help in the future and hopefully give back something.

Cheers Russ

Guilty by association. The 68 Charger build up thread that never got started is also mine the photo of the red charger in the states is genuine it still sits in the same condition in my garage. Stuffed around on the weekend with Jim to get it running right. The 440 pulled nicely got the juices going and now want to start the rebuild but have to finish setting up house for misses and daughter. Guess l'll have to make do with the small block in the Camaro for now.

Hi guys, just checking in....

I can relate to the guy above who loves rotaries - I love Japanese cars AND US muscle cars! I have very eclectic tastes, and have a real soft spot for quirky and unusual cars, regardless of their country of origin.

I'm currently shopping in the US for a Toyota Tundra for a family bus, and a '69 Camaro for a toy for myself.

Having said this, I also spotted a running and complete '48 Lincoln Continental with the original Flathead V12 (with matching numbers!) recently - it's a fixer-upper but what a fantastic project!

New Posts is the only option - all it gives you are the recent threads you either haven't read, or threads with new posts since the last time you read it.

There is no "posts withing past 24 hours" option, nor is there are "replies to my posts" option.

1970 Split bumper Z28, bought this a few years back when visiting my brother in LA and it was in his workshop getting the diff rebuilt, talking to the owner and he rang me months later here in Aus and asked if I still wanted to buy one, deal done and its been the best Camaro i have ever had.

most likely i'll use shermatt to locate me a decent one in the states to bring over, not much to buy locally aus wide.

cluxford, depends what i can find really, its all a dream at the moment still. Id like to find one relatively clean and tidy to get it on the road here quickly so i can cruise while acquiring parts. hugger orange is my first choice, 350 at least if not BB, with the rs front. not looking for a fixer upper, just a tidy upper, first mods will probably be suspension, front and rear clips of some sorts, speedtech and art morrison look like some decent gear.

Howdy! My name is Jeremy I'm from central west NSW. I currently don't have a muscle car, though I'm looking to change that in the next year(Bigblock Chevelle thankyou very much). Always been a petrol head, but for one reason or another I've never owned a car that would be worth mentioning. I have been into bikes for the last 6 years, currently riding a 09 Yammie R1. Current car is a work ute...I did have a project for a little while which was a HZ kingswood that was going to get a Turbocharged Toyota 1uz V8 transplant, the car ended up being a bucket of rust and being in the situation of a baby on the way, I had to give it up. I actually stumbled on this website while looking for importers and decided to join up! Hopefully this overly long intro gives you guys some insight into me :D
