Hey guys does anyone know if the isallation of a battery in the boot is legal in WA see att pic

Even though your Optima is a sealed unit, it still may vent small amounts of gas.
Note the two vent holes at each corner.
Also, you really want a battery box for it, mainly to prevent something metallic from touching both the positve terminal and ground terminal of any part of the car the same time. You'll be in big trouble. A fold up chair for example.
I don't like batteries back there. Camaro trunks are small enough. :)

Yeah, good idea about a box.
Maybe get one big enuff to put the existing clamp arrangement in it, as it looks the biz!!

Snap! I got these plastic covers off ebay. Dont know the lagalities in WA but hope to find out soon if this is ok in SA

Most marine shops sell the Attwood black model for boats but i have seen them used in cars . Pretty tidy unit includes lid, strap and strap clamps.
Not expensive around 30-40 bux i think.

The battery needs to be fully coverd and fully sealed then it needs to be vented to the outside of the vehicle .

Ok cool thanks for the info and how do i vent it to the outside and who does this type of work ?

Use a rubber hose to an existing hole like a 1/4 panel drain hole or something.
Don't give it to a butcher who's gonna start drilling holes in good sheetmetal.
