Where abouts do you guys have your temp senders, block or manifold? Mine is next to the radiator outlet in the manifold but I suspect that`s not the best place.

Typically, senders in the manifold and switches in the left head on GM.

Good to know thanks guys, my thermos aren`t coming on till temp gauge hits 200 and the switch is on the other side of the t/stat housing in the same water galley. Thermo switch is supposed to be 185 but I have tried 2 now with the same result.

Maybe ON is 200 and OFF is 185, is it a Tridon ?

Can`t remeber the brand as I just went in and bought the coldest one I could, it`s supposed to be a 175/185. After the initial switch it then switches at 190 but it obviously does`nt help in my opinion that the car is already that hot before the fans switch on.I am thinking about running the fans full time or at least on a manual switch I can throw on at around 160, getting the engine up to temp really is`nt a concern up here.

Further to sorting out this heat problem, after doing a bit of research I found that the front spoiler is supposed to cause a vaccuum effect to pull heat out of engine compartment on most cars. I am running a fresh air intake scoop where the spoiler would run, I am just thinking maybe it`s causing an air curtain effect in front of the radiator at speed as well as not creating the required vaccuum under the car. As you can tell I probably think to much on theory but it makes sense to me to maybe ditch the air intake and go to a front spoiler, would appreciate your thoughts.

Do any of you guys have issues with the temp sender from a later model engine (eg GM 502) not sending the right current to the original camaro temp guage.
Just wondering if I need to get a original temp sender to be compatible with the guage?

Mine goes to Autometer guage and works a treat

Took the car for a good run today and guage seems to be working OK, just does not more very far of cold. I may need to get it caibrated or something.
Thermo fan is also running al the time, with no temp switch to turn it on/off which I need to fix.
