Heard about this last night.. I feel for anyone that works there now, especially the long term'ers who have set their lives around their job..
I personally put it down to the whole Green farce... yeah I consider it a useless movement.. I'll probably get shot down for it, but I personally believe the whole "green issue" is going to cost everyone allot.. The closure of the engine plant in ford is just the beginning..
It's going to cost big business allot of cash and they will need to recuperate it from somewhere.. Most likely by charging us the consumer more and if they can't lift their prices they will just cease to produce the items which in tern will cost more jobs...
Yeah I think it's a good thing that we are trying to live "cleaner" but we are being bulldozed into believing and living by an exaggerated problem, and being pushed to fast to change our ways....
my 2 cents at least.....
I wonder what's going to happen in 10-15 years time.. will they still be producing fuel that older engines can use? or will we have to get substitute fuels filled with additives that are going to cost to much due to tax on unclean fuels... will we have convert our motors into electric hybrids or face a pollution tax? Just so people can go and over plant an area with trees that produce more carbon in their early stages and use more resources to get to a relevant oxygen producing level that they become worthwhile...
I dunno.. it's been sh|tting me lately... I hear to many people on the train in the mornings whinging about cars..... And now my workplace is going Carbon neutral.. What an idiotic concept… all they did was get us all to fill in a questionnaire that consisted of us answering a few questions about how much travel we did for work, how much electricity we use etc.. And then it's all calculated and we pay a fee to some company that will plant us a tree or 2. In a matter of 30mins and a few thousand dollars we became carbon neutral… Gees.. I wish I came up with this idea, whoever did is making a fortune….
