Well, the build has started.
Just to catch you up with the play. Hubby and I are getting a 32 Roadster built by Adams Rod Shop in Georgia. Our plan is to fly into Louisville Ky, hire a car and drive to pick up the 32 the next day. We wil stay a couple of nights with Chad (the builder) and then head back to Louisville with them for the NSRA Street Rod Nationals. From there we join the Street Rodder Magazine Dynamat Tour that will head west for the hallowed ground of the Bonneville Salt Flats for the beginning of Speed Week with many stops along the way including parties in St. Paul, Mn. and Sioux Falls SD. Our visit to the Black Hills area will include a get together in Spearfish and a visit to Mount Rushmore and Salt Lake City before arriving in Wendover for Speed Week, about 2500 miles in total.
We then head for San Francisco for the Good guys West Coast Nationals, via Vegas and LA. We fly home after that event.
The car will stay in the US with friends till we return in June 2011 for a 5 month holiday when we will buy and RV and tow the Roadster behind on a trailer, going from event to event, mainly on the east coast, but ending up at SEMA in November.
Chad has sent us some pics of the chassis and body.
They clean the frame and spray with epoxy sealer for fit-up, then he will paint the shiny black and final assembly.
He will send more pics of the body mounted on the frame soon. :D

Thanks Marty, were pretty happy.
They should have it completed by mid July and have about 200 miles on the clock, just to make sure all the bugs are ironed out.
Your right...I want to go NOW!!!

Thanks Nev, it certainly feels like a dream, once we get over there it will feel bloody real, having to drive over 5000 miles in 4 weeks!
32 Ford Roadster replica. Motor is a 290 hp crate motor stock apart from performer manifold, 600 holley and headers, and shiney stuff.
Trans is a rebuilt T700R4 8inch diff (there are a few spare in Georgia due to unique performance and some hopped up Mustang line they build, some movie clone?) :-) 3.5 gears, new head.
48 Ford steel rims 15's on the front 16's on the back, caps and trim rings, wide white radials. gloss black chassis and body with red and white pinstriping, red rims, red leather interior, steel louvered hood top no side panels, bone coloured Sid Chavers cloth bop top.

Toni, Hiboy or will it run fenders and running boards.
Of all the early Ford's the one I love the most is a smoothed and clean 32 Roadster
Very exciting build please keep us posted

Our 32 is nearing completion, just as well as we will be there to pick it up in 6 weeks.
Rims, white wall tyres and hood go on in the next couple of days and he will crank it up on Friday, their time. :D

Toni,
How are you going to get this in the country? Is it glass bodies or original metal ?
I assume you are all over this DOTARs issue and replica rods seems to be one of their targets....

We arent bringing it back to Aus, that was never our intention.
It will stay in the US for 2-3 years as we have Long Service Leave next year and will use while we are there on holidays each year.
If we do take it anywhere it will be to NZ. There rules are much more relaxed, as NZ citizens we only have to have owned it in the US for a period of three months and we will cover that base next year.
There are plenty of great events in NZ and we have plenty of friends over there that will look after it for us. :D
Wow Toni, thats looks awesome, love the red and black it really pops out!

Yes, we have a few friends that go every year and cant speak highly enough of it.
There is also Americana and Muscle car madness (South Island) that are equally as good. As well as the Hot Rod Nationals and Pre 49 nationals. They usually have the last 2 within a week of each other so you can make a holiday of it. They alternate between the north and south island.
We miss the number of events we can go to because we live in WA. :(
Hence our overseas trips.

Do you have any concerns about getting it back into Oz with all the trouble on the docks at the moment?

Not worried at all, it will be staying over in the US for a couple of years before we even think about bringing it back, and it might even go to NZ yet?
