Hi all,

I am new to the forum and I'm from Perth. I don't own a Camaro "yet" but I am working on it.

I was hoping some of you kind folk could give me an opinion on this 69 Camaro (http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=8219701&__Qpb=true&Cr=7&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32 |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&SearchAction=N&YearToShort=1661&__N=1247%201282%201252%201246%204294966907%201216% 204294960894%20%201661&seot=1&silo=1011&__Nne=20&trecs=42&__sid=126389D26CB0)
I looked at it today and it seems ok although it is not registered, got some rust in one of the A pillars and the doors and the paint work is not as nice as it looks in the pic, it has a pretty lumpy 355 Stroker in it that would require some quietening before it went over the pits although once wark it idles quit nicely and it has a minispool diff that would also need to be replaced. The interior seems very good. I'm just not experienced enough with Camaros to know if this is a reasonable price to pay.

I have thought about trying to buy on from the US but don't think I want the hassle.

I want a car that I can garage and drive for a couple of years while slowly bringing it back to it's best.

Any advice / assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys the next time you bring your cars out for a show / meet.

Thanks all

Darren.

Welcome Darren :) Your posts didn't show up because the forum has been getting spammed and first time user posts are Modrated ;)

Hopefully some of the guys who are a bit more clued on to Camaros will chime in. Good luck in your quest :D

Hi Darren , and welcome to the site... looking at that 69 , you gotta ask yerself if it will cost you more in the long run to get it up to scratch.. its cheap enuf but for an extra 10 or so g's you may just snare a real nice car..Patience is the key with these things while gathering knowledge. Just keep asking questions , trawl all the camaro sites and read plenty..good luck!

It looks OK in the pics (as did mine) but you never know until you have a real good look underneath. If it's recently been imported it could be a bog and flog. Does the paint look newish or years old?

It has the makings of a nice car for the price on paper though.

Probably wouldn't hurt to see if you can rope someone into taking a look for you, one of us WA boys on the forum may have an hour or so if you ask nicely ;) That way someone that owns one and has had experience working on them can show you the spots to look out for??

Mitch

P.S. Welcome Darren.

Hey Darren,

I was in a similar boat and posted some questions around pricing - see thread http://www.usmuscle.com.au/Forum/showthread.php?t=4572

There is an Anzac Day Cruise mentioned in there as well :) which I will go to for sure.

Cheers,
Warren

Welcome aboard mate. The ad for that 69 you are looking at says the car is up Landsdale way. Barry (username 6T8) lives up that way, maybe he can chime in if he knows of the car.

Secondly, feel free to check out the Anzac Day Camaro Cruise that Warren mentioned. More details are here http://www.usmuscle.com.au/Forum/showthread.php?t=4335

Hope to see you there.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info, you're a friendly lot, I like that :-)

Yes I too live in Landsdale, I'll have to keep my eye out for you Barry, I'm driving a grey FG GT at the moment.

I will defiantly head down to City Beach on Anzac day and say g'day.
