From what I've heard, when the owner bought the car it was a mess. He had the choice of restoring the car to the original (factory) specs. or the movie specs.
Now, if the car was in a major, big budget Hollywood blockbuster, fair enough  but IMHO I think he made the wrong decision !

If that's worth $200k, what's the original '57 from Running On Empty worth ??

I saw that car about 10 years ago, it's a 4 door sedan with 2 door post doors, really rough body, fixed rear glass, blower long gone
and needing alot of work to make it look like it did in the movie.
I've no idea what it's like now or what it's worth

Dave, i was'nt implying that the '57 is worth more than $200K or worth more than the Dodge for that matter, was more asking the question of if the Dodge is asking an inflated price like that due to it's movie star status, how much of an inflated price would the '57 be asking considering it also is a "FAMOUS STAR CAR OF THE 1982 CULT MOVIE RUNNING ON EMPTY". If that makes any sense...:)

aahh.....i see you've re worded your post

Well yeah, :o you never know, someone reading this may own it
The challenger is a 1970 matching #s RT 440-6 pack and probably worth more restored original (factory)
(unless there's someone that collects Aussie movie cars with lots of money)
I've seen the 57  (about 10 years ago I admit) it was a POS nothing 4 door with a really rough body, rust, small block, no blower etc. etc.
Unless someone has redone the car, it's only worth something because it was in a 1980s Aussie movie :D

Oh, don't blow the image of that '57 coming round the bend for the last race with the Fox:rolleyes:
We actually saw that 57 at the Summernats years ago and it was less than average.

I hope you didn't take my comments the wrong way :o It could be a nice car with a full resto.
