View Full Version : Importing a boat from the US
Hi guys, well i thought this would be a good place to start. I'm looking at bringing in a boat from the US, does anyone have any info to pass on?
Has anyone done it before on here? Can you point me in the right direction. Does anyone know of any brokers?
Any advice would be appreciated

I'm looking at doing the same thing once I find the right boat but one thing I have been told is make sure the boats beam is no wider than 92" (7' 8")otherwise it will have to be loaded at an angle might cost you more, avoid Florida boats there are alot of ex rentals coming out of there as for brokers can't help you there.
Cheers Mick.

I have looked into it, US trailers are to wide and need to be narrowed, most won't fit into a container and need to be roll on roll off, You need to be able to make everything as compact as possible as you pay by the cubic meter.

Yep agree with Greg but i was told to dump the trailer and buy one over here and get the boat shipped over in a cradle.

I'm not really into boats so I don't know much about them.
What do you have to do to US boat to get it on the water in Oz?

OK mate just make sure that the beam is less then 7.8. If it is bigger then they will tilt the boat on a angle and the rubber might get a bit damaged.
