Twin set ups are not too common but they are around.
Rod Hatfield has a twin set up on that rod of his..

I guess you would call that a "parallel set up as where Gary Myers would be "in-series". -one on top of the other as opposed to side by side.

Just like any air compressor pump, if you have a set up in-series, it will create higher pressures as the second cylinder (or blower) will continue to make pressure/boost on what has already been created by the first..

As where a parallel configuration is just adding volume though additional cylinders/blowers.

Gary Myers Mustang would be capable of extremely high boost pressures as where Rod Hatfield's rod would be capable of supplying a very large engine.

In both examples, these are mainly for show as one correctly sized blower would be far simpler an do a better job.

The red rod your asking about has actually used two smaller blowers for keeping the engine overall height lower than otherwise. The blowers are nice and small so no need to underdrive by a huge amount either. This set up is quite practical IMO.
