I've seen that episode about 4 times and judging from the owners reaction on the show I'd have never thought he'd sell.
But i've heard alot of bad stories about the aftermath of Overhaulin cars. How they have had constant running problems, are then to expensive to insure and have to be sold or the owner can't afford another car as a daily and wouldn't want to drive the Overhauled car every day.

I've been picking the Overhaulin series dvd's from big-w for cheap and watching them. Some of the cars seem to have good work put into them, and others sometimes seem to be cutting corners, or 'working with what they have'.
I would rate some of their builds as good as garage built cars, but most of them a bit better.
The quality of build coming from the likes of Southrod's shop here seem to be of a much higher standard, but i guess that comes at a price.
From what i've read, the owners of the cars produced in the overhaulin series don't just get handed a 'free' overhauled car, they have to pay some duties/taxes on the parts used etc. This could add up quickly with a new crate motor, diff, paint etc.
Nice looking challenger though.
BTW - Chip Foose, if you're reading this, feel free to come overhaul my 69 project camaro in Australia. I'm sure there would be a lot more challenges for you to pull off a build in Australia where the parts aren't so readily available, and working in a 'regional' town.

I hate the paint scheme , the stance is terrible, the wheels are awful ..Nice model car but they really stuffed the look of this one

A few years down the road, it'll be just another 71 318 challenger that was on a TV show once  Appraisal value $295,000 my ASS !

I really like the 71 Challenger.
I'd have one any day, but the paint and wheels on this one.......
I'd have to budget for new paint and wheels.
So I suppose it wouldn't be a "Foose" car anymore
Or how about this Foose F**K up. Think he was smoking something when he thought it up. If you see the show, it starts as a real tuff driveable white 71 Camaro with sidepipes. If I was the owner at the unveiling, I'd been overcome with tears of grief!

PIMP MY RIDE must have been helping with this build

Happened to meet him while in the US, what an awesome guy, so down to earth, happy just to have a chat. I am not really a fan of a lot of his cars but he is a legend, people where waiting for 3 hours for a meet with him at SEMA.
So I would say you are a minority.

I guess it's like artists. Some people just buy their stuff cause of the name and hope it goes up in value etc. Doesn't mean it appeals to everyone. Personally I think he's turned the Challenger into a Pimp mobile. JMHO :)

I like most of the Foose stuff i've seen him do, purely from a visual standpoint.
Plus he does get input from the owners family/partner as to what they want the look of the car to be.
I'm a graphic designer and I know what it is like from his side. You can be an awesome designer but at the end of the day you have to do what the client wants, luckily for me though i'm not on TV and don't always have to have my name associated with my designs if they are terrible.

Foose has built some amazing cars. (most not seen on Overhaulin')
Some of the Overhaulin cars go a bit over the top in search of a "wow" factor for the people who aren't really car orienatated and won't appreciate subtle changes.
